i was looking for ARP head bolts and i was told that they only make head stud bolts for the H22a4.

are the head stud bolts basically just a replacement part for the stock head bolts?

 

Yes, they serve the same function it's just that ARP uses studs in stead of bolts.

Yep, the studs are able to seat themselves into the block before any torque is even applied (like when you put the head on). This equals better holding power and more accurate torque measurements...plus the ARPs are stronger to begin with.
