Default fuel filter questions

i have been reading through my search on fuel filters and had a couple questions. First i kno AEM makes a filter and its a direct replacement, but how much better is it then a OEM replacement? something about microns whats up withy that? also was thinkin about putting a B&M fuel pressure regulator on my car while i was at it cause i think my cars running a little lean after i installed my intake headers and exhaust so maybe turning it up a little will give me a little more preformance. last question was i was thinking about seafoaming my car while i was working on it ive done it before and it works great should i seafoam before or after installing the new fuel filter since u put seafoam in the gas tank and all? whats your opinions? thanks alot for the advice.
MIKE

I would stick with OEM. You're not going to notice a difference using an AEM or any other overpriced brand.

If you want to you can, but if you just have bolt-ons (I/H/E) I wouldn't bother. What makes you think you're running lean? If anything, see if you can rent a fuel pressure tester and test what your fuel pressure is before you go spending money on an adjustable regulator.

Shouldn't matter. Some people suggest replacing the spark plugs afterwards, but not the fuel filter.

expletive fram. Get NAPA/OEM, something like that. Maintenance interval on plugs is 30,000 maybe, I'm not 100% sure. They should only be a couple dollars per plug.

spark plugs hsould be replced after 15000 miles or 12 monthes, by the manuals recommendations. But, 1.5 years would kill them, if they were changed when you purchased the car. I would just change them out, could save your a few more mpg, and all 4 MIGHT run your over 2 gallons of gas($6) if you get plain old jane sparkl plugs. I have platinum double ended right now, ran me a lil more but I'm all about performance, one step at a time. Fram makes good filters, I have Wix if that helps. No problems, but it's $5 more for Wix and serves the same purpose. good luck tho

Helm's manual states 45,000 mi intervals for spark plugs. I'm not sure what manual you're looking at, but that's a little soon.

4/5 members on here will recommend NGK spark plugs over any of that 2, 3, 4, or eleventy billion electrode spark plug crap. If you want performance, you're not going to get it out of some high priced spark plug.

******, I got my source from Haynes Repair Manual. It does sound early, but with the miles and destruction some of these cars go through, I would atleast check the spark plugs after 15000 miles. I have platinum spark plugs, not racing, I was just saying that they PERFORM better for me and I don't have to worrying about the electrodes going bad, in other words no worries until I get the turbo. I'm not running the car at the track, just trying to be gentle and get good mpg. But to the guy were suppose to be helping, good luck. Remember to let the pressure off your filter before unbolting anything(open your gas tank cap).

This is fine. You're entitled to your opinion and what works best for you. Since Helms is what Honda tech's go by, that's what I reference as well.

To OP...he's right about letting the pressure off the system. It's a good idea. There are a number of things you could check, depends on the mileage of your car.

Distributor cap
Rotor
Tranny fluid
...
