zc vs ls which is better

Sounds like both of you are arguing about something that you know nothing about. I would take a LS any day of the week over a ZC

Lets put it this way....ZC cost's about 800 at most with motor and tranny and you can get a professional to drop it in with his eyes closed and 9 fingers tied behind his back...its terrible with the trq numbers with a comfortable 130-140HP and not too much after market support...sounds nice, but the B18B is about maybe 1100-1500 (a rough estimate) and it should bolt rite in with MINOR mods if any at all its got about 140HP or so and the trq is about 130...and it has very strong aftermarket support....both are great motors to turbo the ZC just has less parts out there for it......if I were U i'd go for a B20...same cost as the ZC about same HP numbers as the B18B but the trq numbers are crazy and u'll B able to use Bseries parts....

The ZC torque is no worse than any other D, but probably responds better to boost than any other D. The LS will go in with the same mods as any other B, but will end up costing twice what the ZC would. B20, would end up costing much more than the ZC, more than the LS as well.
What it all boils down to is what your definition of better is
Neither are hard on the install, the ZC would be easier

The ZC is cheap, and for people who say there is no aftermarket parts for the motor, there are plenty, might take bit longer to research what part fits, and from which car. Over all the LS is a better motor, but gonna cost a pretty penny. Basically if you have an Si all you need is the motor and wiring the dizzy, everything else you can use from your car. While an LS you basically would need everything, Motor, tranny, ECU, mounts, Linkage....
All depends on your budget.

i agree, the ZC is a great motor for the price. but the LS is better for overall performance, i.e. more torque, and more power, as far as i know, i think its like 145hp and like 130 lbs of torque, anybody feel free to corect me if im wrong on the numbers, which i probably am.

i love my ZC, but i think i would be more happy with a LS. but for the money, u cant really beat a ZC IMO. i dont know how much a LS swap is, but my ZC was about $750, cuz i still have my stock DX tranny( it blows) but i cant wait to boost it with it, its gona be fun on the highway
of course the ls b18 motor is better then the dohc zc..you cant really compare the 2 motors at all,,its not fair..best thing about the zc is the fact that it bolts right in using stock mounts,,bolts up to stock d-series tranny,,can be had for around $500 nonstolen everywhere..but the b-series is just a better platform if you want overall power, lots and lots of aftermarket choices,etc,etc..
I paid $900 for my DOHC ZC and my ZC transmission (which I love btw, especially because no one has it) + the integra axles. It was definitely cheap, and I am definitely satisfied. I show up a fair share of people who think they can smoke me all because my car looks like a POS. The engine was incredibly easy to bolt in too.
My next project in the next 1-3 years is going to be ls-vtec tho.
I say that for beginners to engine swaps ( like I was) should go with a D first, then go to a B. That's just my opinion.
