how long it take to drop tranny
i just bought a 1991 civic with the 4 speed. want to swap cars (better body) how long would it take for me to drop the 4 speed and the 5 speed and then put the 5 speed back in the other car?
Depends on how good you are. I would say 1.5-2 hours but it depends on lifts, tools, if you have to move the cars, people helping, blaa blaa blaa
o they aren't heavy at all, you could pick one up easily, but its just getting it out is a little pain, you have to wiggle it around and work with, its more or less just pain in the *** to take it out, and putting it back is the same.
if its your first time pulling a trannny..just be patient and stock up on some beer and you'll be set

Well after I paid and found "she" had a ***** it was one punch she dropped.
Around 2 hours myself but it'll vary greatly on if its your first time doing so how much help you have and the tools you have.

Our buddies last year ice racing changed their trans in less than 30 minutes (87 CRX si.) That was on the ice, on their back in cloudy conditions. Practice makes perfect.

I'll time myself this eve.
So far about 45 minutes to jack the car up and take off everything that needs to come off before engine and tranny get supported. all thats left is ball joints axles, tranny bolts and mounts.
Then I have to replace the following seals: oil pan, main and both axle seals. install a new clutch, change the oil and figure out a way to get off this stripped dizzy bolt to replace it with a new one.
oh and a new axle clamp.
