Since HIDS use less power than halogen, I do not believe that the housings will melt.

start up is very very powerful though. And those things are made with inferior quality materials so i'd just avoid it all together.

Ive had black housings i bought on ebay with HELLA d2r/d2s 8000k H.I.D's and mine havent melted or faded or yellowed over. Maybe they would you put in the Hella 10,000k kit but I still doubt it.

Then why do mine look great after over a year? Know what you are talking about before you post useless information.

I have an 8000K HID kit from hid-lights.com. They will produce less heat than the oem bulbs do. I have been running them for over a year and they look just as good as the day I installed them. I have had zero problems with them. These are NOT a retrofit either, it is a plug and play kit. The cutoff is excellent, almost as good as an oem setup.

The "K" is the color of light the bulb produces. This has nothing to do with the heat they produce. An 8000K kit will look blue where the 10000K will be more purple.

Yes and No

K is absolute temperture OR kelvin

273.15K would be 0 degree C

K is the officaial SI system temp. standards(read: physic)

I sell hids

if you want a kit that will work I sell McCulloch HID kits
they are the most common aftermarket kit
they will not burn out the projectors on a ebay kit
some bulbs are a lot longer and the heat they produce in a projector is closer to the lens of the headlight ... sometimes the light is tooo much for the projector and "overheats"

that is where it causes the the melting

best option is a retrofit, but it's not a cheap thing to do

Sorry to burst your bubble but McColloch kit sucks, my friend's kit burned out within a year of use. I don't even drive that car often.

needless to say warranty didn't give a damn about it.

I've had my McCulloch kit for just over two years now. Still going strong.

Lol i guess you havent seen 10,000k H.I.D's. IF 6000K is purple how are 10,000k purple. From someone that had them they are probably the brightest blue kit period.

Its like a welders arc the cooler the flame the less blue you see blue means very hot. And this isnt for all of you posters just the ones that talk about things they dont have any idea about. I sold those kits for 4 years.
