91 crx gettin 99 integra b18a NON-VTEC swap
im putting a 99 integra NON-VTEC motor into my 91 crx i would like to know if i could use the tranny out of the 99 integra ( which is hydraulic) or should i get a cable tranny ??? ,and is it cost effective?? and can i use the integra ecu? and where bouts do i have to push the firewall in at and what should i use to push the firewall in??
you can use the hydro tranny if you buy a cable to hydro conversion kit. no you cant use the 99 ls ecu. either get a obd0 dist and run the 90-91 pr4 or convert to obd1 and you can use the 99 dist and just buy a 92-95 ls ecu. you dont have to push the firewall, you just need to smash in the frame on the drivers side where the alt mounts
so how do i convert to obd1 in a 91?? and what would be the easiest and cheapest option ? and how much do i move the frame out?? will i have power steering?? will i have to buy new knuckle/ spindles? ( my cars an si )
your cheapest and easiest option would be to use a obd 0 ls dist with a 90-91 integra ls ecu.
you dont need to pound out the frame that much, idk 1/2" or so in. or you could just use a shorter belt. because actually from the looks of mine, i didnt really need to pound it in at all.
do you have power steering now? power steering is mounted on the front of the motor. if you have power steering now idk what options you have about mounting a integra or a civic p/s on the ls motor.
no you dont need new knuckles because your si knuckle will accept the axles no problem, although it is recommended that you take the dust shield out of the knuckle

chosing from a ls cable tranny and the hydro one i would definalty chose the cable .
one it is going to be a little cheaper 2 the 90 and 91 ls cable trannys maybe 92 not sure , have better gearing . its still not as good and b16 yranny or any others but its better than the hydro ls . The cable ls tranny shares the same final drive as the b16 trannys and gsr trannys which is 4.40 , while the hydro is 4.26 . Im not positive but i think 1 through 5 are also a little shorter geared than the hydro also . but still longer than any b16 gsr or type r as fasr as 1 through 5

yeah stick with obd0 itl be cheaper. otherwise you need obd1 ecu(the 99 wont work thats obd2). a converios harness. a obd0/obd1 dizzy. and a re-wire on the dizzy. just stick with obd0.
don have to push firewall in : P. just heard about the frame.
the cable tranny is usable. if you get a conversion kit. hasport.com sells them. peopel on the forums sell kits. hasport makes some great mounts too, check them out if you dont know the name. the hydro kit is prolly 100-150$ more i think? i dont remember. but if yoru goign on a budget get the cable tranny. the hydro tranny will probably be in better conidition if it is from a 99. so there is an upside to that. but you will have to convert and spend more money

i bought a 91 ls cable tranny from a junk yard its in great shape , the engine was blown bc of no oil . I think it had like 80 k on it . Just out of couriosity , from what i stated above why would you want a hydro instead of a cable unless you looking for a little better milage or just dont care
arnt cable / hydro greared diff?
cable .... doesnt seem to hold as sturdy (the CABLE not the tranny). as hydro setups. im not sure if using a conersion kit(because it still uses a cable) fixes this issue or not? ive heard of alot of people snapping cables with higher staged clutches. but for most people this is not an issue.
also. preference. i prefer the feel of cable. my friend prefers hydro. i feel i can shift quicker with hydro. but i feel i drive smoother with cable
