Default How much horsepower is needed in 1995 EX coupe to make high 13's?

Hi i just bought a 1995 Civic EX coupe. I am looking to do a swap.. either a b18c5 or k20. I am wondering how much horsepower do i need to make 13.9 or enough to keep up or beat my friend's evolution? any suggestions? thanks

all motor is going to be expensive. sleeve a LS block and bore it out to a 2liter. run a built head, cams/port/valvejob etc. a good header and 98+spec jdm itr tranny. should be able to walk that EVO. but that's going to cost you good money while on the other hand you can spend 5gs on gsr turbo and be faster.

real question is how much money do you have to waste. 13s are not at all fast so why bother, get some konis and go autocrossing instead.

Ditto.

But for the record, my friend's track EJ1 has a stock JDM ITR with I/E and he walks Evos all day at the track. Evos are overrated.

Worddddd

That's probably cheaper (B + Turbo), but u said u wanted N/A, in that case ur goingg to need a BUILT GSR, LS, B16 (I've heard they're fast, no actual experience w/ them though), Type R, etc... a high end motor will prolly put u at like 14 with I/H/E -- If you do what you need to do (which is sleeving, new & high comp internals, port, polish, etc.) then you can knock the time down dramatically...but you'll still push more power with the turbo...what's the difference, he has a turbo in his evo, so what would the differance be

Couldn't agree more with both comments.

I don't care how much money you spend on a k20, that thing will have power to no end with just bolt-ons.

On a honda a good driver and about 200whp should get you in the 13s.
Turbo D should be enough.

I agree with you, they're fast. But still overrated. Especially against properly launched FWD Hondas.

EVOs aren't the best things out there but they're a hell of a quick car out the factory and with very little mods they can be quick. all in all evos gets my respect.

I think the evo throws 270 on an AWD drivetrain or something to that effect...you're going to need prolly like 240 at least (assuming ur a good driver)(you have an advantage because of hte weight difference), but u'll definately need your numbers up there

Does nobody read Honda Tuning? They got a 4-dr Integra into the 13's with just north of 200whp(and slicks). That said, you'll need about that to break 13's. Figure P/W ratio. LS/VTEC is your friend.
