autocross in my s2000?
get a new set of shoes for the car, and put a nice set of tires on the stockers...for autox, tires are the single best upgrade you can do...and just so you know, dont get your feelings hurt when far inferior machines (read sohc hatches and miatas) beat you...Autox is about finess, and it's easy to dance to something slow and steady, instead of fast and twitchy...
Forget the springs. The S2K is set-up very, very nicely stock. And yes, it will bump you out of the stock class where the car fits nicely. Read the rule books for the clubs you race with, but most allow an air intake system and a cat back exhaust. But becareful when buying an exhaust as many will actually cause a decrease in power. Honda did that good of a job with building it. (Oh, I have an '01 S2K.)
As nello said, spend your money on a second set of rims and tires. You then can satisfy the looks and autocross wants.

I already have some work emotions 17" for my s2k.. I bought them within the first week I bought the car.. anyways I plan to run auto-x on some 16" 5lug slipstreams I got off a buddy.. lowering it changes my class? I wanted to lower since i'm daily driving the car and awnt it to look clean as well as preform.

The most important thing in any autocross is the driver. Last year a viper showed up and everyone beat him, it was too tight of a course, and too much car for the driver to handle. I say before you mod the car, do an autocross or two and see if you want to change anything. Like a lot of people have said here, Honda did a really good job on that car. There are also a couple of guys who run s2k's regularly and are usualy very close to FTD (thats raw time and for all classes), and they are in the stock class.
FYI: if you are going to run in SCCA, an intake will bump you to STS2 (just a stock K&N replacement is ok though), so would the new springs, but a cat back, and different tires are ok (as long as the stock wheels or wheels of the same size are used including width and offset).

thanks for the advise everyone, I think I'm going to go ahead and lower it with some full tien coilovers and just try to compete in a slightly harder class

oops, a slight oversight on my part. My Purdue friend is correct, the S2000 is ineligible for Street Touring, straight to B Street Prepared it goes.

Seems foolish to mod a car BEFORE you autocross it at least once. Maybe Autocross it, THEN decide what it needs to go faster. Other than tires, I'd be willing to bet any mods you make would make it slower rather than faster. As someone else said, Honda spent millions developing that suspension, I question whether you or I could make it any better.
hope you get your fancy JDM bling suspension corner weighted and get a good alignment before you autox

I really hope that wasn't at an SCCA event, because NOS is NOT allowed. Whoever did tech on your car needs to have a talk with the safety steward. Not only is it stupid to use it at an autocross, it is dangerous to you and everyone else there.

Why does someone always have to ruin a good thread by spreading their ignorance? Sadly, this guy may be saying everything the OP wants to hear. FYI, I don't think taking the rear seat belts out of his S2000 will make any difference in weight.

Reality is that you can do whatever you want with the car and still autocross it. But you will be fastest if you do nothing with the car and work on the driver. The fact is that the S2K is most competitive in stock form. You can have fun autocrossing in whatever class you choose but if winning is important stay stock. However, for the first year or two that you autocross the limiting factor will be your own skill not the car. That's why experienced people here are suggesting that you leave your car alone.
If you modify it, you will go to one of 2 classes - B Street Prepared where it will get beaten by modified BMW M3s and Corvettes, or Street Modified where it will get beaten by the AWD Rally cars or BMWs. The fact is that the little Honda 2 or 2.2 liter motor is already tuned to within an inch of its life and you need big HP for either of those classes. Also the tranny and diff of the S2K can't deal with the 400 hp you need for those classes. Stay stock if you want to win.
If you think the S2K needs to be slammed to look good, that's your business, but lowering it the way you propose will only hurt the handling. The best advice I can give you is to just go out and run the car as is. You will be wasting your money if you modify it and expect that the modifications will make you more competitive at autocross.
