Retard four marks or 8 degrees. I have a f22b1, btw.

I know it says 4 degrees but its really four marks on the gear which = 2 crank degrees.

The dyno runs are on my website.

well all you do witht he sohc is move the torquew band back and forth, there is no way to change the valve overlap, i have mine advanced 1 degree to give me a bit more mid-range, i dont rellay need to worry about up top....as that is well taken care of

You cannot just stay 8 degrees end of story. It depends on the car, state of tune, etc. Dont you need to cut that bolt or something? I know you cant just do it with a socket.

cut the bolt for what?

my cam gear has 3 12-pt 8mm bolts (which means it takes a 12-pt 10mm socket)

My fault. I remember reading a thread of how you have to cut the PULLY bolt. I confused the cam gear and crank pully.

Retarding your cam timing by 8 degrees will take away all your streetable low end, but it will give you more high end... Find a nice happy median like -2 degrees, so that you have a bit of low end... if you go to the track, then retard it to whatever you want...

I recommend just going to the dyno. It is much better than anything we could tell you, since none of us have the same modifications as you.

Yes, dyno tune it please. Everyone's car is different.

I just dyno tuned my cam gear for my 6th gen. It's at 6degree retard. I gained lots of high end, and lost just a little low end.

Changing the CAM timing also changes the A/F ratio too, keep that in mind...

I reccomend not buying them. I advanced mine 2 degrees went from a 16.5s 1/4 to 16.9-17.0. The midrange was improved, but not worth the loss in top end.

doesn't changing the cam timing also throw off your ignition timing?

Yes, but you can always change your ignition timing and cam timing to different specs... this is makes tuning more complicated...

true but that also means many different outcomes to choose from.....noone said it was easy, shizzle imagine the complication in dohc motors that adds changing values of valve overlap....

my point was that if you just change the cam timing...and leave the ignition timing...your results are gonna be messed up

well, ignition timing can be off by 5 degrees on F motors and the ignition timing will still be in spec...

it depends on teh conditions, but when we were adjusting my ignition timing on the dyno, it really didn't affect the power curve
