Default rod bearings

are the OEM rod bearings fine for a built motor or should I try to find some aftermarket bearings?

OEM are fine, but many people, including myself, run ACL bearings. I just bought them because someone suggested I should and seems a lot of people run them.

acl's are made to the same standards of oem.... oem's you can get exact tolerances you need... but most people are fine running green bearings across the board... i have calico coated acl's with harden'd backs in my car

We use OEM bearings on our builds unless the customer requests otherwise.

However I'm running ACL's on my built 2.0L, mainly because they're cheaper and I plan on rebuilding every 30k.
