Default Compatible Trannies for SOHC ZC w/out changin axles or hubs?!

I am looking at changing my transmission in my 91 Civic Hatchback Std.

I got an SOHC ZC but the transmission is the stock four speed. It sucks soooo bad. I wanna get a 5-speed from the local pick and pull but I want to know ahead of time which trannies will work.

I need the tranny to be:
1) Five Speed
2) Compatible with SOHC ZC
3) Compatible with 91 Std. Axles and Hubs

Basically I need to know which cars (trim levels) and years will fit the above scenario?

Thank you so much in advance. And please, if you do not know what you are talking about, don't guess. I don't wanna drop a lot of money on a tranny only to have it not work!

ANY tranny from a 88-91 will work with your car. Try for an si.

Well, is that is true, what trannies are a 5 spd.?

I know a civic/crx Si, but I can't seem to find one.

What else have them?

Please add to the list!

1)Civic Si
2)CRX Si
3)Civic DX

what other trim levels have 5 speed?

The inner splines are the same. ANY 1988-1991 Civic/CRX transmission will work. I actually ran an SI transmission on a Civic STD for about a year.

I would only use a 90-91 Si tranny so you dont have to change your flywheel / clutch. (althought it might be a good idea to change the clutch while you're in there.

So are those the only cars that'll work? The DX and Si? What other trim levels?

If I can use any tranny, what's this about?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by dough-boy &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Anywho, my Honda buddy had a trans he bought as a " 91 CRX Si " and went to install in his own car, then found out it was a 88 tranny ( from the spline count which he didnt bother to check prior to exchanging cash & driving home ) & couldnt use it. </TD></TR></TABLE>

That's the spline thing I was talking about! Help!

you only have to worry about the spine count when you are trying to use your old flywheel or clutch. If you have a 91 car, the lowest you are going to be able to go is 89 if you want to keep your flywheel and clutch.
