Default ls/vetc or gsr?

I have a 96 ek hatch with a ls swap i was wanting to do a vetc head. I know i need to replace the rod bolts and get the golden eagle kit along with head studs. I was wondering which would be cheaper to go ahead and rebuild the ls block to run the vetc head or just do a gsr swap? thanks for any help

lsvtec still would be cheaper if you do the work yourself you could probbly pull it off for under a grand.

ok i'll fill u in on what else i'm looking at. The wiring harness is all cut up from the guys who did the swap i'm the 2nd owner since it was done. So i need a new wiring harness i figured i need a vetc harness and ecu just didnt know what block i was gonna put in there. I've heard u have to machine the top of the block for ls/vetc not sure if i'm correct on it or not. I wasnt sure if after machining and replacing the rod bolts and putting it back together which would be cheaper. Right now it's ob2 and running off one o2 senseor they have the primary sensor plugged into the 2ndary wire and the cat is gone and welded up. i'm working on getting that redone. this thing is a gem haha

Ive heard so many good things lately about people doing LS/VTEC... if you have the LS already, might as well take advantage of it and use that leftover money that you didnt have to spend on a GSR block to have a little more fun with the head. Just do it right and you'll love it!
