Default Stipped bolt holes (helicoil or tap).....

I took the trans mount off of the trans that was on my G/F's civic, and one of the bolts was cross threaded bad from the factory from what I can tell. Needless to say, after coming in and out of my car a few times, it's completely stripped. Can this be fixed with one of those heli-coil things that I've personally never seen but always hear about? Should I just drill it and tap it for an 18 mil instead of a 17 mil?

How good do those helicoils work?

This is on the rear mount of a D series trans (goes down through the top).
Thanks in advance.

if room permits I would use a helicoil, the problem I've had with taps and aluminum
is if you don't redrill the hole big enough, the aluminum can crack. theyn your really screwed.

just my opinion
