Damn!! This is so frustrating...What years of the jdm h22a are OBD1....is it 92-96 OR 92-95......The Place Racing wiring harness for my car is wired for OBD1 internal coil....But my distributor (internal coil by the way) is not working....and the motor has '96 stamped on the block right behind the header........so does that mean its obd2!!! And how can i tell FOR SURE that my motor is OBD1 OR OBD2.

 

I think that the OBD2 cars are set up with two o2 sensors and the OBD1 cars only have one o2 sensor.
I could be wrong........It's worth a shot.

yep, 92-95 JDM H22a's are OBD1 and 96 and up is OBD2. And yes, the OBD2 has 2 oxygen sensors but I'm not sure any other way to tell because my manual is only good up to 1995.

I might be wrong, but isn't it 93-95? I know for sure there wasn't an h22a in american ludes in 92, but maybe in japan...

 

yes, in Japan they came with H22A's in 92 (um, the VTEC ones anyway)

 

So your wire harness is OBD-I with internal coil? And you have a 96 (OBD-II) JDM engine? What ECU are you using?

Well, there's a few things you can do. Send the harness back and ask them to re-wire it for OBD-II (if they have such a thing). #2, convert the internal coil to external, and run the wires yourself. #3. Wish that someone else have better answers. :D

 

an easy way to tell if you have an obd2 motor is your ecu they sent you. see how many plug sockets there are 3 for obd1 and 4 for obd2.

also if the motor is stamped 96, it either came in a 96 or 97 production year car. does it have 96 stamped on the head too?

 

Damn!! I just got a call for my mechanic...Apperently PLACE RACING screwed up ONCE AGAIN!! So we had to go back and do something to the harness and wait for place racing to fax a bunch of diagrams of the harness...So last night it finally got started up and then............THE INJECTORS GO OUT...lucky a buddy of mine had some OBD1 injectors laying around....And 30 mins ago it finally started up and so far so good..im goin to go pick it up now....And last but not least...it never was the distributor.....PLACE RACING JUST MAKES CARPPY PRODUCTS!!!!!!
