gc's what shocks?
i know that this question is always asked but i cant find a real answer. i have ground controls on stock shocks on my integra. i need new shocks badly and i know koni yellows are one of the best set-ups. i thought i could just put my coil overs on the konis, but ive heard that a seperate peice is required because the sleeve is too big around. what should i do? sell me gc's and get full coilovers? or buy any other type of aftermarket shock that will fit with my gcs. if i get another kind of aftermarket shock, what should i go with? sry so long and thanks for any help and responses
the koni shock bodies do have a differnt diameter, so they require a differently sized sleeve from ground control.
depending on your purposes with the car, upgrading to a good quality should would probably be my recommendation. the tokico illuminas have the same diameter body as stock so you can use the GC setup you alread have. they arent up to par with say koni yellows but as many here will attest, are a very good quality shock, especially when they can be found for ~350 shipped via ebay. they also carry lifetime warranty, which is always a plus.
if you choose to sell your current kit to buy the koni/gc setup im sure you wont be disappointed with that route either. more than likely it will end up the same cost if not cheaper than a full coilover setup, with better quality shocks, higher range of adjustment and lifetime warranty on all pieces- the konis the eibach springs, the GC sleeves, the whole lot

Search in the classifieds to see how much used sleeves sell for...
There is no way to use your old sleeves safely. The Koni shock has a totaly different spring mounting system that cannot sit a sleeve on it. You have to get the special sleeves that eliminate the original Koni spring perches all together...
When I switched to Koni shocks (I already had GCs), I had to purchase new threaded sleeves, and new gold nuts to make everything work. I just reused my GC springs because I liked the rates. The cost was over $100 dollars for the parts. You could easily sell your old sleeves/nuts/spacers & make a bit of that money back...

i see.., mine in the back seem really soft, and the writing on the spring is gone so i cant tell the spring rate. do you think if the rear shocks were blown, it would compress as easily as it does?

Usually when they are "blown", shocks will have fluid running down the sides. It's hard to tell if they are blown by pushing them because the valving is speed sensitive. It is definently possible. Mabey someone else can give their opinion...
