Default D15 v-tec engine question and ecu part # question

I have 2 quick questions that I need enlightenment on:

1. Can I put a D15 v-tec in a 94 civic DX and hook everything up using the non-vtec ecu that is already in the car and still have everything function correctly except the v-tec?

2. If I find a v-tec harness from a 92-95 Si/Ex and use this with the D15 v-tec motor, what ecu do I need to replace the non-vtec ecu?

I have a friend who needs a new motor in a 94 civic DX. It is non-vtec automatic so not looking for power/performance, but the v-tec engines, for whatever reason, seem to be cheaper during my searches for an engine. Granted I will need to source an engine harness and ECU to make it an easy PnP install. Sorry if these have been talked about and beaten to death, but I'm new to Hondas so I figure someone can give me a quick answers. Thanks for the help in advance.

Anyone have any meaningful answers? I've done some searching online, but there is a list of like 10 different ECU's compatible with the JDM D15 vtec. I was hoping that someone with some knowledge in Hondas could point me in the right direction. There is a ton of info on the B-series stuff, but I'm not finding as much info for the D-series related question I have.

I really just want to know if I can hook the JDM D-15 vtec motor into a US car and run the US ecu without hooking up v-tec?

Thanks in advance.

You can run it was the stock ecu, but it's not really meant for that purpose, I'd just set up the ecu and vtec to begin with and not worry about it.
