Should I buy it?
1988 Honda Civic DX Hatch
New Tires
Cold AC
5 speed
Excellent red paint
front driver seat has a few tears in it
Stock
He's asking $1,975
I can probably talk him down to $1,800, but I doubt he'll budge much more. Oh, all records as well, it was WELL maintained.
Any opinions?

Thanks for the feed back. It has been garaged kept until about a month ago when they got their new van. I'm going to go test drive it here in 45 minutes or so. He is suppose to give me a call back. Let me ask though, is it hard to mod the dx? I always here the dx is the worst/hardest to do an engine swap/mod though. Just curious to how true this is.

Also, does anyone know where I can get the specs on the dx (i.e. weight, etc.)
Thanks,
Chris

it is worth it if the body is clean and there is not the rust like said before...but other then the dx requires some modifiction to wiring when going MPFI...but it is not hard and it is also a light car...not sure about weightmy title for my 1989 DX says 2200 lbs..so i am sure it is close...you could always do a si head swap pretty easy...
Thanks for the reply 89EF-BCUMBIE. I test drove it, drives real tight and quiet. Their is just a VERY small amount of rust under the edge rear part of the rear wheel wells. No more than a inch at most. I believe it is sand-able. I have a friend who converted his garage into a paint/body shop so I'll talk to him. He does showroom quality paint jobs for the price of the paint and a couple hundred more
Only thing I don't like is no power steering... (*sniffs sadly*) You can do a b16a headswap on it? I was planning on dropping a b16a sir1 w/transmission and ecu on Hasport motor mounts with AC brackets. The seats will need seat covers until I get sparco torino's or source some gsr seats from a junkyard. I really want to put a crv/vtec in it, but I don't think I'll have the $$$$.
I'll have to drive it for a few months before I get the b16a swap done, but is there anything I should definately check before I buy it? The exhaust is clean, I checked to see if there was oil around the headgaskets but there isn't. Brakes are real nice on it. The frame isn't bent, no wrinkles on the inside of the engine compartment, clean title. If I buy it I'll put pictures of it up.
Thanks for any and all info,
Chris

if yur gonna get one for a b16 swap you just might as well find one that has a good body but a dead engine and pay 900$ less for the car.. since yur not gonna use the old engine there's no need to pay for it.
but if yur gonna drive it for a few months than make sure the engine IN IT is strong so you can, perhaps, sell it.
also, aren't the hatch dx's like the crx's dx's where it requires a few more things to be done for a swap? like dpi to mpfi and changing the front wheel hups?
one more: hatch DX's came with A/C???? really????
