can anyone tell me weather a k20 is really a badass engine like veryone sayz or is there really nothing special about it.

it's all relative how "badass" is it. it's a good engine with good potential.

it seems like all the development has been shifted towards the k-series so its only gonna get better.

 

IMHO It's a very good engine yes. But...the USDM Type S is probably a waste from what I hear and the only one worth the money is the JDM Type R. Either way it's gonna be damn exspensive, buying the engine thats like $4-5.6k..then mounts, axels. Getting it put in RIGHT which is probably alot of money. So I would guess somewhere around $9k? fully done from what Ive seen.

 

Yeah, the price has gone up $1K in the past year. I'd think they'd be more common these days. maybe it's the exchange rate or something. I'm leaning toward and H22 just because of the price.

I heard that both K20A2 and K20A3 only have VTEC engagement on the intake camshaft. Is this true?

 

the k20a2 has it on the intake and exhaust lobes. the k20a3 only has it on the intake lobes.

 

It's the worst engine ever. F-series is where its at.

 

k20 is good i think but very exspensive u can get good power from other setup as well like b20vted lsvtec

I can buy a foxbody that runs 12s for cheaper than I can do a k-series swap on my car. Yes, there's the base k24 and the k20a3, but if anyone goes to all this effort to put a k20a3 in their car, they've wasted time + money.

 

I'm sure its a nice engine, good power and torque, but what it really boils down to is is it really worth it? IMO, no.
