well not totally quiet but not raspy maybe a lower tone that does not attract attention?
does that exist? iI converted my dc exhaust off my integra (da6) to fit my 1990 crx.
i want to quiet it down before i put the 1989 doors on it

 

I ran with a supertrapp for a while. Its takes the "brraaaaap" out of the high RPMs, but it still is loud like a WWII airplane.

 

how close is the da6 exhaust to fitting the crx?

well doing to mods at same time just found doors without! seat belts in them to save weight
but my mine concern is the brappppp sound extremely loud at interstate speed!
was thing of keeping greddy on there and adding very short 10" supertrapp where tip goes

the greddy off the da fits ok but does require modding
will post pics to show you



hope you can see it ok?? the chassis shop sells exhaust donut's to make up very tight exhaust systems so that is where i am headed if i do not do the add on supertrapp thing

Heh, I was talking about running a resonator+supertrapp only being super loud.

Putting a supertrapp on an exsiting muffler should be much quieter...dont affix it permanently, though, so you can take it off for the track.

 

supertrapps work great, just dont take all the plates out and run it straight through with a test pipe, that can be a bit loud

 

i was thinking of going to midas or some other muffler shop and having them put on a 2 1/2 or 3 inch exhaust and muffler on an aftermarket mid-pipe. My thinking is that an oem style muffler with that diameter would still flow very well and be very close to stock quiet.

 

find the HKS cat back. it's really quiet and looks stock!!

 

just cut off the greddy muff and weld up a flow master

The doors with the seat belts in them DONT save weight. Common knowledge amongst EF'ers... 88-89 lighter for a couple of reasons but thats one of them.

that is the doors i have the car is a 1990 i am putting 1989 door's on it and also adding better seats and harness's also but thanks for the heads up my typo's are many sorry for confusion i am a mechanic not a english major or a proof reader by trade

 

a friend of mine has the rsr exmag on his crx and i like the sound its very very low key in looks and definitly isnt loud at all. you could build the perfect exhaust or at least a exhaust that is in the range of db your are looking for, buti definitly think lowkey on crx look good, no canister

 

The easiest and most effective solution is to cut out a section of your mid-pipe and install a glasspack muffler with the "nostrils" open to the front. Those resonators that are all smooth inside don't really do much... you want a glasspack with the snarls on the inside.

How will it sound? deep and quiet... no more weed-eater.

it does work, and is worth it. The diameter on the inlet and outlet of mine is 2" I believe. It didn't make it totally stock quiet, theres a very small rasp between 2k and 3k RPMs in 1st gear, probably due to the cheap muffler, but it made a HUGE difference in town and especially on the interstate. It is mostly all silent though. It is completely silent on the interstate, and barely noticable in town.

I just wish I would have done this a long time ago so I could have some of my hearing back . I made a few 4 hour trips on the interstate, and cruising at 4500 RPM was murder with the old OBX muffler.
