Default my all motor build (LOTS of pics)

build consists of:
GSR block and all new seals/gaskets from honda
JDM ITR pistons and rods with ARP rod bolts
ITR intake manifold
GSR head ported by portflow, all new seals, portflow valvetrain
skunk2 stage 2 cams
ACL bearings
ARP headstuds
RC 320cc injectors
will be tuned by me with Crome Pro

im trying to make about 200-220whp on a 1.8L OEM parts bottom end

heres the pics
head pics

block buildup/pics

block back from the machine shop. and z10 plug installed. misc other unnecessary holes plugged. notice the repaierd hole. cylinders are nicely bored/honed

pistons installed, bearings installed

checking clearances. can see the repair again.

on the money

oil squirters about to be installed. ive heard a few stories of these bad boys backing out, just ask B16 mike. loctite should prevent that

all installed

everything lubed up, ready for final assembly

mains, rod end caps, and crank girdle installed. also oil pump, water pump and rear main seal, and finally windage tray.

pistons in their new home

and where i ended for the day. ARP headstuds installed on the block. looks sick.

im hesitant to install the head just yet. since i still need to transport the engine back to my place in baltimore before i can install it. and with my apt being on the 2nd floor it might be better to just wait to put the main pieces together afterwards.

enjoy

Nice build.

Why did you go with the SK2 stage2. instead of the newer Pro series? Are they just cams you already had from a bervious build?

Curious about your gauges and what they are mounted in. I need something to fill my radio hole and want 3 gauges. Did you make that gauge holder and where are you placing it?

i got the skunk2 stg2's when i bought the head (before i had it ported and only planned on a mild build)

i may change cams later. but this is what i have for now. im really liking the BC4's

CRX_Toad hooked my up with that guage holder. it will go in the heater control spot. i think he makes ones for the radio spot too. PM him, he could help you out

nice build.

Are you modding the ITR intake manifold to fit your GSR head?

werd. thanks.

a note on the ITR mani before anyone asks. the reason i did it was for the rules of HC. oem unmodded manis only. and ive blocked off the coolant port on the head with a hondata race gasket. so i only needed to redrill to the correct bolt pattern

finished some little odds and ends on the shortblock.

i modded the prelude nipples just like endyn does. i just JB welded some copper pipe, its 3/8" pipe. probably should have went with the 1/2" but oh well, 3/8 will work.

and you can see it protruding in the block. best pic i could get since i already had them installed.

basically the reason for doing this is to help prevent excess oil from being pushed out these holes. the purpose of using the joints is to vent crankcase pressure, but i want to relieve to pressure without puking oil out. having the protrusion will help this since only free vapor will be allowed to be pushed through the hole. without the protruding tube, oil on the walls could be pushed out.

also in the first pic you may notice some JB weld. well while working on it i discovered a nice crack. so i JB welded it up. and yea i know i shoved a NPT fitting in a BSPT hole. the previous owner did the same and fucked the threads up for me. i used plenty of yellow teflon so it should seal up ok.... i hope.

finished
