1991 honda accord/rear ended
i got rear ended last thanksgiving and the guy who hit me did not have insurance and there was nothing i could do about it. but an estimated fix from a local auto body shop said it would be 4300 bones, but i personaly dont care how it looks. i know the engine still runs like a champ, its been sitting for about 6 months and i got it started without doing anything to it(just a new battery). the only things i think i need to fix is the rear damage, new bumper, tail light, muffler and possibly tail pipe. any help would be nice, thanks.

If the shop is "asking" for $4300, is because there's some good damage.
Do this: pop your trunk, lift the carpet and spare tire cover, and look for any welding marks that have been broken. Is the trunk flooring looking bent or uneven? If yes, that means the impact was strong enough to damage your frame.
When the frame gets substantial damage, only streching frame machines can put back in its place. But sometimes, it can be better to cut off and weld back the pieces needed.

Looks like a real mess. Even if you had replacement parts they would not bolt up without doing some straightening. If you could get it to where the trunk lid would close properly, you might have a chance. If you can't do that, cutting and welding would be necessary. To fix the quarter panel would also require some cutting and welding. Sorry.
i hate to throw out a car that i know runs well, ireally dont care how it looks. is there any way i could get a fair amount of money out of it if i dont fix it.
If you think you can fix it yourself, or you can get it done cheaper than $4,000 I say do it. But if you have to pay that much to repair the damage, it may not be worth it. It all depends on if you can do it cheaper or not.

If it were me i'd buy the same model and color with a blown engine and use the one you have as a parts car.</TD></TR></TABLE>
you should be able to find one with a blown engine cheap, then just swap your good engine and tranny into it and you have a hell of a lot cheaper fix. keep any other good parts off the wrecked accord, and haul that piece away

If you had the tools to do this job, it would be awesome.
By looking at the photo of your car, the quartel panel looks bad. Of course I would need to see both sides, inside and out to get to a conclusion. I would guess it affected the rear part of the frame. That really need to be pulled back in place before you can even work with it.
Get a couple of pics of the trunk inside and both sides of the rear end.
If the fix isn't worth for you, you may want to pull everything you can from that car.
At least, the front of your car looks to be a much easier job, by only "replacing" the damaged parts.

The way the car looks, even if the motor is good or messed up, nobody would buy it for more than 500 or 600. A junkyard would pay maybe 50 to 100 bucks for it.
Do some shopping, see who can straighten the back of your car.
If your budged is tight, you may want to do the job in steps. When I had a damage in my 91 accord, I got it "fixed" at a collision repair, window replaced at a shop and painted the quarter panel myself at home. That saved me money.
You could: 1) get it repaired at a collision shop. 2) Install bumpers, hood, fenders, headlights or whatever parts from used junkyard vehicles. 3) get everything painted to match the color of the car in a better time when you have some extra cash.
Just some opinion from another accord owner!

i took my pictures up to an auto body shop and they said they could pull out the back to that the trunk would fit and a tail light would fit. estimated $250 to $300. I will try and post different pictures on here soon.
