juss dropped car on espelirs! looks perfect but, car shakes violently at 40mph. help.
waddup guys, i juss dropped my car on espelirs, everythign looks good but i ran into a few problems. While driving on the freeway, when i reach about 40mph, the car shakes violently all the way but steadily decreases to 50mph. then its gone. what can I do? it seems liek it only happens when i hit the gas to 50mph, but when i put in neutral, it dissapears, so when i put it back in gear again, its shakes again. GHEY. im juss soo frusturated. After 50 it drives smooth again. My car has never ever done this, but once it was dropped it happen. It has to be my suspension. i dunno, anybody out there?
Seen it before. Had the wheels rebalanced and it helped a little... I'm still trying to figure out why that happens. Anyone?
Not my car btw.
Not my car btw.
but y is it only between 40-50 mph? im juss soo frusturated.
Also, today when installing em, i was having problems identifying the springs between front and rear. It never showed any type of label on them. The shorter ones go in the rear while the longer ones go up front correct? i think i did the opposite of it. thanx Projekt. Anybody else?

How does your car sit? For Espelirs the "THICKER" one goes in the rear.
It's a harmonics thing I think, but I don't think I can help you because re-balancing the wheels only REDUCED the vibrations, not solving the whole problem.
I'm waiting for others to chime in, and my ride to go get drunk.

very werid.. lower springs like those should not throw off anythign too far to cause a "shake" as u say.. something must be loose... also as Projekt said balencing might have somethign to do with it.
I recently installed espelirs on mine too. No problems. I'd check to see if you switched the fronts and backs. I'm glad the guy I bought my springs from labeled it.

also, when i turn hard it has a slight "whiney" noise. It feels like stock and i love it but its juss the noise and shakes that pisses meeh off. Who wouldn't you know. Does anybody know which spring belongs to which? Shorter in the rear and longer up front? they both look equal in size, but one has a extra coil on it so thats y im distinguishing that the extra coil goes up front. aight guys, im heading to bad. Hopefully, i'll get some responds

Also....
My homie said that if my GM (he helped me on the drop) said.... "if he undid the upper rear control arm, and let it hang, it could've pulled on the axle and pop out of place there for not alligning correctly, it might be misalligned. you hsould wobble it back in place or bring it to a CV shop, they can do it in like 10 minutes for like 10 bux. "
and his friend said " axle could be out slightly. I think he didn't have something near the control arm, or arm itself tightened right. If it is the axle that is loose, when u hit 50 mph, your Fuked."
if it cost 10 buxs, i'll juss bring it to a shop to fix.
to sum everything up. "rear pass half shaft popped out of joint and is misaligned somehow and wobbles @ speeds in excess of 40mph."
what cha guys think?

Sounds like a rear end shimmy!!! This could become big problems if you don't take care of it soon.
Go out for a drive....accelerate hard (note: I did NOT say drop the clutch at 6000 rpms), and look out your side view mirrors. Do you see vibration on acceleration?
If so, you may want to check a couple of things.
1. Look for inner joint wear on your half shaft.
2. Look for diff issues.
Typically lowering a car magnifies issues that were hard to see/feel before.

go back and recheck everything.. make sure everything is properly tightened and everything was installed properly... make sure the springs are sitting properly on the shock perches and are on the right way.. LOL....

your Axel did not pop out! unless u loosened it to remove/install the struts which you dont need to....

yes that too can be a issue because the angle is slightly changed by lowering the car, and the problem could have been there before without any notice.

yup yup. its juss that when i drive up 40-50mph, if i sail though it slowly then i
i'll feel less vibrations. If i accelerate hard withthin this time frame, it indeeds shake like crazy, my passenger side door, mirrror, etc. but after 50, its gone. I nitced though after 50mph my car has a littel bit of vibrations tahth it never had before. There not very noticeable, but i know she's never been like that before.

how could this be fixed? does it need to be replaced or "retightened"?

Nope...no whiney noises during hard turns. Looks great, handles nice and no problems other than being a little bouncy sometimes(but that's because I didn't upgrade my shocks).
I'd double check to make sure that: 1) the springs are not reversed (front and back) and 2)that the springs are right-side up. If they are, then go from there with the other stuff mentioned. Hope that helps.

do u happen to know which springs belong to where? even though they look equally similar in length, 2 of the springs have an extra coil on em. Do these go in the front? whiel shorters are in the rear?
im assuming that they were put in vice versa. Im juss gonna check th elittle things first though so my only question is....
Longer in the front, shorter in the rear?

I don't know if this will help much since I don't own a s2k but I had the same exact problem with my integra between 25-35 mph, pretty bad shake, and after that certain MPH it would instantly vanish. This was right after a axle change, figured it was a bad axle, bent shaft causing the shaking. Might want to check what your friend suggested, maybe something popped out slightly causing the bad shaking.

my mechanics thought it was the axles also but they checked all of it and they said my axles were still in good form. They have 2 solutions...
1.) since me and my GM were having prolems distinguising between the front and rear springs, we could've put the wrong spring in (front went in rear, and rear went in front) therefore causing the spring to not sit properly in the shock.
or...
2.) when doing the rear suspension, we could've accidentally knocked out one of the bearings in the "tulip" that connects the CV joint to it, there for not aligned or sitting properly."
i jus need to know what spring goes where, hahah so i can do the lil things first before i go all drastic. again, ANYBODY!!! lolz, what is the front, what is the rear?

Unfortunately, I can't remember which was longer or shorter. I do have these pictures that maybe can help you distinguish it:
front
rear
Also check to make sure that you can read the name "espelir" on the springs without turning your head upside down or else your springs are upside down. Hope that helps.

keep the advice coming! im the passenger of this car, and it shakes violently on MY side
thanks everyone...
thanks everyone...
go get ur car an alignment, it'll reduce it. I had the same problem before. When i hit 40 it starts to shake like crazy, but when i reach 50 it started to settle. Then after i got rebalanced, got an alignment it helped reduce the shaking. It shakes just a little bit cuz my cambers in the rears are still in the red zone.
Try it and lemme know.

i went to an allignemet shop to talk to them about it and, my main man said that its not an alignment problem. It's in the driveline because once i whomp on the gas pedal, it shakes but when i pit it in neutral, it disapears. But once i put it in gear again, and accelerate, that bitch shakes like theres no tomorrow.
