i spun a rod bearing on my d16y7 yesterday and im going to have to replace them my self i was wondering if any one had the trq. specifications i need for .. oilpan.. fuelpump..<U> everything</U> all the way to the rod.
please help me out and if you got any useful info lemme kno thanks!

 

lol, your fuel pump has nothing at all to do with your rod bearings. Buy a HELMS factory service manual, and say a prayer before you start tearing **** up.

 

Get a Helms and even then the bearing spacing is real tricky

 

fuelpump? man u sure you really wanna replace it yourself? its not exactly something you would want to tackle if you dont really know what you're doing. while you're in there i would go ahead and replace the main bearings and i'm sure you're aware that you also should replace thrust washers if you're in there anyway. are you planning on reringing it or just taking the rod off the crank and putting the new bearings in with the piston still in the cylinder? oh and GET A DAMN HELMS MANUAL you should have one already if you're asking this.

but if u must know, on a y7 motor...
main bearing cap bolts- step 1 - 15ft/lb
step 2 - 38ft/lb
oil pickup tube bolts - 17ft/lb
oil pan bolts - 9ft/lb

are you aware of the torque pattern you need to follow for the girdle?

um how do i take off the oil pan do i pry it off?..
i got all the bolts off midsection off clutch dustplate off..

 

like mentioned many time above get a <U>HELMS</U>. It's your best friend.

I agree with everyone on here get a damn HELMS and take the car to the shop it might cost money but its cheaper then buying all new internals or motor (in some cases)

 

you dont need to replace that rod bearing. take it to a mechanic. you're only going to do more harm than good. tell me where the thrust washers go and MAYBE you'll be ok figuring it out. if you cant answer that dont touch inside your motor.

my uncles a mechanic im gonna bring him over when i put everything back togather... the crank looks fine and undamaged from what i can see.. its still smooth ..ill make sure to let you guys know how it goes.

 

i did this on my y7 (replaced one rod bearing) and it still knocked afterwards because the big end of the rod was warped from all the heat. i did it for ***** and giggles cause i already had another motor for it.

 

yeah i just need to fix this until i have my motor built

ok.....if you plan on fixing this motor....and then build the same motor you're fixing......then it's not gonna work....bceasue you cant "temporarily" fix spun bearings...if you think that's how it's gonna go....then get out the jb weld i guess.....to put your cylinder walls back together.......lol!!!!

 

... how can you not replace a bearing? those are there to be replaced
thats why that wears down instead of your crank

i dont understand your logic behind a spun bearing causing damage to the cylinder walls. so long as the piston rings remain intact then the cylinder walls will be perfectly fine. the only thing i would worry about is that bearing looked pretty bad, you might want to take that crank to a machine shop and have them take a look at it. i've had a bearing spin so badly before that it actually welded the rod bearing to the crank itself. i had to cut it off to get the rod out. which sucks because b16 cranks are a tad more expensive than one for your y7. i dunno if you're anywhere close to the chattanooga, tn area but if so i have a couple extra y7/y8 cranks laying around. i'd let em go for next to nothing, just get that **** outta my garage its taking up space. i could probably ship one to you, just using a lot of peanuts or whatever to make sure no stress is put on it so it won't warp, but that **** is heavy and shipping would probably be quite a bit. let me know.
