wassup guys. my homie has a 2006 honda civic and he and myself are wondering because we disconnected the battery to reset the ecu and now the radios asking for the code. so i was wondering if the theirs a specific code for that car/radio. or can anyone give me a code that would work. PLEASE HELP because <U>we heard it cost 80 bucks to get the code from the dealership.</U>
Noone can "give" you the code
go to your dealer since the car is new and tell them they never gave him the code
HOWEVER usually they are stuck in your glove box and another one in your manual packet

There is one copy sticker in the manual packet, and there SHOULD be one stuck on the glove compartment when you open it. The dealer is supposed to apply one here, as well as leave you a spare sticker.
turn the ignition on and the radio off
Push the 1 +6 button and turn the radio on
Tell me the number it gives you without the letter before the number sequences.
I also need your VIN# and last name to prove you own the car.

The car was bought salvaged. Someone at the yard took all the paperwork out of the car along with the floor mats. I want to get the serial so I can get the code without taking the dash apart.

Well I got the code today. I tried obtaining it from my local dealer but they were unable to help me since the car was not originally purchased from there. I signed the car up at Owner Link and it specified my local dealer (which was not my local dealer) so I assumed it was the dealer where the car was originally sold. Called them up, BS'd with them for a min, gave the guy the last eight digits of the vin, and gave me the code.

As for that dealer not being able to produce the code for you. They are BSing you, they are too lazy to do it, thats all.

He sounded fairly sincere, he got my phone number and called me back ten minutes later, he said the reason being was that the car was never sold/serviced at that dealer. The guy that gave me the code looked it up right away. I'm just happy I didn't need to pull the unit out.

they are telling the truth. the radio code gets shipped from the factory with the manuals. when the dealer pdi's (pre-delivery inspection) the tech is supposed to write the code on the front page of the service manual with the pdi checklist, and store it in their own computer data base. i was told by my tech that the 1&6 method doesnt work with the 06+'s. and the only way to obtain the code is to get the number off the back of the radio, then enter it into the dealer honda interactive website (which i have access to as well being a salesperson).
what you should do is give that code to your local dealer so they can put it in their data base under your file. then if you ever lose it again!
