In 2000, the red paints for honda/acura cars were:
Ruby Red Pearl
Cayenne Red Metallic
Firepepper Red Pearl
New Formula Red
Milano Red
San Marino Red
Roma Red
Palazzo Red Mica
the em1 came in milano red, so by "si red" do you mean milano red, or is it one of the ones above?

Wrong.
All red 92-95 hatchbacks & sedans (except EX sedan), and 96-00 coupes (incl si) are milano red.

Milano red IS from a 99-00 Si. Its the only red that came on the red si's. There is another red called roma red I'm not sure which civics it came from but it did come on some.. If i were you I'd look at the color code on your door called the dealer and ask them if your color code is for milano red or roma red and compare that to yours. Even if its the same it may or may not match since wear and tear on paint could have changed it depending on where the car came from, how well it was upkept ect..
Honda makes Si grilles and lips in Roma Red which is wierd. I have a Roma Red hatchback and bought a brand new oem Roma Red Si grille from the dealer and it matched my car perfectly. If you search hondaautomotiveparts.com or slhondaparts.com you can find these parts under the 99 Si parts. Either they made these two parts in the wrong color in 99 or there are a few Roma Red Si's around somewhere.
Check your driver side door. There should be a color code something like R-97-4 or something.
and I can assure you than Canada 99-00 SIR or US 99-00 SI red is MILANO RED! where Canada 96-00 HBs and maybe US HBs are Roma Red
It's in service manual, which i own, and if the color code on your car door shade says R-97, then its ROMA RED
R-97 - ROMA
R-81 - MILANO
I doubt that SI grill was Roma red, its just difficult to tell the difference between the two. But they are still different colors, so if you put your car outside on a sunny day, then youll defineately notice the diffrence.

So it is difficult to tell the difference but the difference is easily noticed on a sunny day? What kind of sense does that make?

Don't forget that after almost 10 years in exisitance the sun will fade the red. In some cases substantially. I know my bumbers on my 98 are fading badly on the top.
