Is the base model RXS worth buying for the price?
I'm looking to purchase a new car. I can't afford the RSX Type S but the Base model is more reasonable. I was thinking about getting the new SIR hatchback but it goes for $25,500 Canadian. The Base model RSX goes for $24000 Canadian. I'm new to the import scene and want to know if there are lots of mods for the 160 HP base model?
What do you guys think?

If your SIR is our version of the SI... then you are going to get the same amount of support of your car snice they have the same engine..which is not a lot right now, if your SIR is our EX i would say get the RSX...
are you sure the base RSX isn't 25,500 and the SiR being $24,000.
in the states, the Civic Si is a thousand dollars cheaper than the base RSX. if you like the styling of the Si over the RSX, then go for it. engine wise, the Si has the water downed internal's of the base-RSX.

I checked the price on acura.ca and the base rxs is $24000. I went to the Honda dealership and they told me the SIR is $25500.

Can you afford the RSX Premium? IMHO you are paying just a tad more for the RSX and your getting a better car than the Civic SIR. The SIR is overpriced with crappy tires, 15" wheels and is UGLY. I'd be more happy with the RSX.
i know you debate is between the SIR and the RSX base model , but have you consider the WRX all around performance for almost the sam price then that RSX

I'm now leaning towards buying a 1999 Integra GSR. I'm looking at one thats $21500 CDN and has 48k KM on it. My buddy is going to sell me some of his parts as well.

I agree with GS-R here. If you're going to get one, its worth it just to go the extra mile and get the faster model (that is, if performance is important to you). Of course, if you really want to go the extra mile, then wait for the type-r.
Of course, if you can find one, a current type-r would probably out-perform the type-s, certainly in handling, so that's another option.

I think we finally reach some agreement here.

Don't get your hopes up too high, I don't think it would do it by much

I never think it would do it by much either.
imho, in terms of performance, stock vs stock, RSX-S is right between ITR and GSR, maybe a bit closer to the ITR end.
