2003 Honda Odyssey Flasher Relay location
I hope I don't make anyone mad, but I need some help. My turning signals and hazard lights went out suddenly in my Odyssey. From what I can see by Googling the topic, it seems to be the flasher relay. There have been posts on different sites indicating the same problem. Can anybody help me with the location of this part on the van?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Hello,
I have a 2000 Odyssey, so I don't know if it's in the same place, but... given that I searched for this same information myself and never found an answer, perhaps you can benefit from my experience.
It's on the back side of the driver's side fuse panel where the 7.5a flasher fuse is located. In my odyssey, this same panel is also a sort of wiring harness. There are around 10 different (maybe less, but if FELT like 10!) green (and one yellow) wiring connectors plugged in to it. There is also one nut on the side closest to the door that must be removed. I had to unplug every one of the wire connectors, which requires careful use of two flat-blade screwdrivers, as they are all "locking" connectors... be gentle, but firm. Once you have all of the wires unplugged and the nut removed, you can pull the whole thing towards the passenger side of the car. It won't come out very far, and the emergency brake pedal is in the way, but if you have small hands, eventually you can get it out far enough. The flasher is a Mitsuba FR3309 (Honda part# 38300-SE3-003 or 38300-SE3-013). It's located at the top corner closest to the firewall/farthest from the engine. Honestly, the only way I was able to find mine is that it was still working intermittently, to I could follow the clicking sound.
Two things to consider, 1 - Don't buy the generic BUSS brand flasher, unless you have the defective one in hand. The flasher has to fit into a specific recess on the wiring harness, and all the generic ($9.95 vs $38 for the OEM, *sigh*) ones were too large to fit. and 2 - The guy at my local Honda dealer parts counter said that more often it's the flasher switch "on the stalk" than the flasher itself that goes bad. Of course, it's also $20 more than the flasher so, it's a crap shoot which one you replace first. It's apparently easier to get to, it's underneath the plastic cover on the steering column. I haven't replaced mine yet, but if I have to, I will post better instructions.
Good Luck!
