Default Accord Type R or H22?

Since i got screwed on a d/r motor for my car... im just gonna take advantage of the down time... and get the swap i want.... ive wanted to go with the common H22a1 swap... but i kinda wanna be unique and put the Type R.. F20B motor in. Anyone have any info on what i need or what i can use such as the F22 tranny... and etc. Cause i can get an F20B without tranny for $1500.....any input is appreciated.

if you do a type r swap, one of the negatives they tell me with JDM motors is that it's harder to get replacement parts. you cannot just walk into autozone and ask for parts like that. at least those were the analogies i was told when i asked.

well, im not gonna beat a dead horse, but just to tell you an f20b is not an ATR motor...
and an f20b for $1500 with no tranny is 99% from an automatic, have you seen pictures of it? does it have a flexplate still attached? im almost positive but anyways those are only rated at 180ps so for the same if not less you could pick up an h22 longblock and have 190-200hp and a good amount more of torque...
any h/f series trans will work (minus s2k) but ive ridden in h22 cars with f-series transmissions and i wouldn't reccomend it...

Correct the F20b is NOT an Accord Type R engine. The Accord Type R engine is the H23 DOHC VTEC motor (2.3L). The F20b is the Accord SiR-T. (2.0L)

TypeR

SiR-T

But the F20b (And H23 DOHC VTEC for that matter) should have same install procedure ..

- Accord mounts (HASport driver side)
- Accord linkage
- Accord throttle body (accord t/b prob. make install easiest)

.. I looked up the F20b DOHC VTEC and i guess it had 20 less HP .. wich is significant b/c will cost you about $1000-1500 in mods to get back ,..

ATR is h22a7 not h23vtec, those only come in new accord sport wagons
f20b in sir-t is 200ps, and in the automatic is 180ps, due to slightly less compression, slightly less aggressive cam profiles, and i believe smaller intake valves (not positive)
