JDM Headlights pass state inspection????
hey, i just got my car inspected, and failed 1. for having hid headlight bulbs, and 2 for having a broken bucket, sooo i was going to buy some jdm headlights, but wasnt sure if they would pass state inspection, because they are not factory bulbs anyone have any idea??? im pretty sure ill be alright, just asking.
Are you asking if because its a black one peice light it will pass? They most def will...the only thing i noticed difference about USDM lights is....that they dont have those 3 nipples on the glass/plastic. I never figured out what those nipples do. If you look at every US headlight on a car...they always have 3 nipples. Besides that....well they pass in Delaware.

I always wondered about that too. The ONLY reason I could come up with was the nipples somehow add strength to the glass surface.

technically the jdm lights could fail because they have no reflectors
all usdm headlights and taillights have reflectors in them
but i am pretty sure the prelude gets covered by the reflectors in our turn signals even if the headlights don't have them.

i have a broken headlight adjuster, from an accident from previous owner, a new or used headlight is almost as much as jdm headlights, i just bought a set for 195 shipped. hopefully i can pass with h4 headlight bulbs, should be alright

Nipples are from the plastic casting process. The jdm ones do not have them because they are glass and are not poured into a mold. As far as strength is concerned...it might be a LITTLE bit stronger than the rest of the face but really inconsequential.
how do they check for this
mine has a blue bulb that cracked inside and so you can see a tint of blue in the passenger side
everyone is like eww why do you have blue headlights lmao
also i got maggots in my rear taillights wtf

The three little nipples are used for headlight aiming. I'm a licensed PA safety inspector, and i would pass the JDM headlights, plus they look so much better. As long as the headlights have adjustment they should pass.

i'm sure that it is. however. the USDM lenses are glass. and the JDM's are made of plastic. and its the USDM GLASS lenses that have nipples. so your just all backwards.

Thanks for the answer! I would be pissed if i had to swap my headlights at the DMV inspection because they dont have nipples. I mean seriously.
