Default CRX B16 Swap Running But Not Hitting VTEC! Questions (PICS)

i have a 91 crx hf with a jdm obd0 b16 swap fully swapped in and runs strong but i had a local kid wire up the VTEC and it just won't crack!

-the speedometer cable seems to be working fine because i have accurate speed readings.

-i am using a skunk2 chipped pr3 with launch control, i also tried a stock pr3 but no results.

below are pics of exactly how the kid wired it, please review it and tell me whats wrong... THANKS IN ADVANCE!

THE RED WIRE

THE RED WIRE IN THE MIDDLE

THE BLACK WIRE ON THE BOTTOM LEFT IS THE ONE HE TAPPED INTO

thanks again please get back to me

bad connection? those wires are just twisted together solder them, is the red wire crammed into the plug? did you use a new pin or is it just crammed in i cant tell by the pic, the solenoid should be grounded well, and the other to the ecu, dont forget the knock sensor wire is that hook up as well? any codes?

he did use a whole new pin, i crimped the wires the best i could, do you think it will make a difference if i solder them? i'm not sure about the knock sensor... i felt around above my oil filter and it feels like the knock sensor is there and plugged in. would vtec not work without it? also i don't think there are any o2 sensors hooked up would that affect vtec?

Yes, yes it will.

Do you have a CEL? ECU throwing a code? Also, i don't know what you mean about "tapping into a wire." That doesn't seem right...

i mean thats the pin he used i just worded it wrong...it is throwing a code i will check in the morning, and get back to you i have to go by the blinks right? so lets say i have no o2 sensors or knock sensor hooked up but the vtec was wired correctly VTEC wouldn't kick in?

Is the vtec oil pressure wire ran? It goes to ecu pin B5,it won't work without that hooked up.

fixed it, vtec solenoid was wired wrong...no knock sensor but chipped ecu makes it work i think...the motor feels real sloppy though, is that due to no knock sensor or o2 sensors?

I have the same swap, you gotta run both o2 sensors in the correct order and placement if you wantit to run properly.,unless your ecu is chipped to only run 1.

one more question, when you're looking for the pin-outs...... i get the part where they say make sure the clip is facing up....but are you supposed to look at it from the front where it would plug into the ECU or from behind where the wires are plugging into the Harness....thanks

also how do you diagnose a bad Sollenoid..?

where they plug into the harness, they should be numbered on the plug.
