Default Cable Tranny Problem, HELP

I had to replace my cable tranny on my zc motor, and got through with everything, got the new one on, had already put every last bolt on except for the cable onto the fork arm. I couldn't get the cable to stretch down, the fork wouldn't even budge, so I forced it up and something poped lose. I'm guessing the spring poped off of the throw out bearing, because there is now no more tension on the fork. Am i going to need to take everything apart again, or should I try it as is? This is my first tranny so please understand that I'm still new at this.

Thats what I figured, because without that spring, there is nothing to bring that throw out bearing away from the pressure plate. But people were trying to tell me that they would try it without it.
