so i pulled away from a stop sign pretty hard today (floored through 1 and 2, let off when i hit 3rd) and on came the CEL. worried, i babied it in to work and reset the light. on the way home, no light. random misfire maybe? anyone else ever experience this?

45k miles, religiously been changing every 3k with mobil 1 for the past 10k, no funny noises, bone stock.

 

i wouldn't worry to much about it if the car is still running fine....

 

Did you get that fuel cut out situation figured out?

 

do you have access to a scanner?

i would be interested to know why the light came on, would you not?

not 100% sure, but i think you can go to advance auto/autozone etc, and they can check it?

i am sure you know someone w/ a scanner.....

don't need a scanner to check a CEL... anyway, i'd like to know what it was, but if it were serious i'll certainly see it again, don't ya think? probably just a misfire.

 

Is it a 1st gen 00-01? I've seen O2 sensors corrode and fail... Pull them and check just in case.

 

I had a cel come on before due to an O2 sensor overheating, only saw it once and never again

 

Burn it too many times and the housing will corrode and fall off, bouncing around inside the cat...

 

i went through 1st and 2nd decently hard the other day and it blinked at me 2-3 times then went off... no sign since.

 

damnit... came back on today... suppose i'll check my o2 sensors tomorrow

 

never had that happend to me the most i got while i was driving was maint required then it shut off. But it was just letting me know that i needed an oil change. Make sure your gas lid is on tight. but if the car is running fine like papasmurf said u should be good. juz keep us updated.

 

if you filled your gas recently, then i'd check your gas cap like S2KJ55 said. I had that happen to me twice. I tightened it, then reset the ecu...gone after that. hope that helps

 

score! gas cap wasn't tight... we'll see how this goes.
