Default CRX cranks over, has spark but will not ignite PLEASE HELP

I have a 91 CRX si with an LS/vtec in there. This is the first attempt i had at startgin this motor. I had a B16 in there last and it worked just fine.

instead onf making a story about my problem im just going to list what i kno about it

1) my battery is located in the trunk. A 1 gauge wire runs up to the engine bay then splits into 2 8 gauge wires. One goes to the starter and one goes to the fuse box.

2) When i put the key to accessory the fuel pressure gauge reads about 38 psi so i know the fuel pump is pushing fuel up to the motor.

3) Turn the key all the way and the stater turns over

4) I have a spark tester thing that you put inline with your spark plugs and it lights up when spark is present. When turning the engine over it shows that there is spark.

5) It doesnt even make an attempt to try to ignite and run on its own AT ALL. There is no popping or spuddering or anything goin on. Just the starter turning it over n thats it.

Any ideas? could it be bad grounds? could i just be over worked and be over looking something stupid??

Has you checked the basics like whether or not the firing order is correct, if timing is set correctly at the belt side, if there are any engine codes, what ecu are you running? If you are getting spark then your grounds are probably ok, although a quick test is to just clamp jumper cables between your battery ground to the motor/frame to make a test ground.

first off do what jeremy said and check your firing order is right and timing is correct , if still no luck then the only other possibillity is compression so check that your tappets are all set correctly because you may find that if they too tight the valves are staying open for too long. i had this problem with my zc race engine and it took me ages to figure out why it wouldnt start.

Put brand new plugs in and try that, I had spark and fuel and it wouldn't start till I put new plugs in. I had it running the week before it wouldnt start too!!

firing order is correct

i have brand new NGK plugs in there

tried the jumper cable trick

all it does it turn over because of the starter. The engine doesnt even attempt to try to turn over on its own. But like i said i can see my fuel pressure gauge move when i put the car to assessory and i deffinatly have spark

for some reason when I first tried to fire my engine, I had to crank it for 10 minutes, then it gave a quite resounding bang, which was spark igniting some fuel mixture, then I had to floor it and hold the starter, and it took about a minute after that and it roared to life. It might just take patience? My .02

It could just be that the fuel injectors need to be bled out by cranking it at full throttle for a while.
