B16 engine wiring harness. Before or after putting motor in?
Ok, after spending about 2 hours last night trying to get this damn harness hooked back up I came to the conclusion that I'm doing something wrong here.
I'm gonna guess that trying to hook up all the sensors and crap AFTER dropping the engine back in is NOT the way to do this. You guys that have done swaps and pulled motors for rebuilds, how did you do the wiring harness?
I really don't feel like pulling the motor again. It was a bitch to get it in.
How about just pulling the intake manifold? Would that help?

did you try to install the harness after you did the swap? why didnt you do it before? i made sure my harness was on before i did my swap that way i didnt have to worry about anything electrical when i did my swap
That's what I was afraid of. I don't know why the hell I didn't put the thing on BEFORE I dropped the motor back in. Guess I have to pull it again and start from scratch. DAMNIT!!!!!
im not saying i would pull the engine to put the harness back on. there has to be a way. which plugs are you tring to plug in first? the best way i can think of off hand to do this is to start off by putting the harness behind the engine and hooking the 3 plugs up by the intake many and then go from there.
I started over on the distributor side and was trying to work my way over to the driver's side. Everything was going smooth until I got to where I had to go under the intake manifold. Hands are all cut up, back hurts, pissed off, I hate my car.
The bad part with pulling the motor out again is that everything is full of fluids already. Pulling the axles off means I have to drain the tranny again.
The bitch pin needs to come back off too. I hate that damn thing. I think I'm just gonna try it by pulling the intake manifold first and see what happens.

Yeah it's a hassle to put the harness on after it's in the car but it definetly doable. I did mine by routing it through to both "main" plugs )the shock tower ones then went underneath the car and did the ones under the intake manifold that I could reach then from up top I did the others. It is a pain but it is easier to do than pulling the motor again since you already filled the fluids and all. Good luck
