Right direction of 5g OEM wheels ?
What's the right direction of the OEM wheels for the 5G lude?
This:

or this:

I have installed the wheels the first way, but I'm not sure if it's OK...
EDIT: I've found also this one, so it looks it doesn't matter much

They are suposed to "cut through" the air. Second one is the way they are supposed to go

Wish the 4th gens had as many options for clean lip kits....
I second the motion the second pic. Looks like its flowing.

i usually look at teh inside of th wheel. if it says L its for the left side, and if it says R its for the right side. Just about every other directional wheel i ahve seen from honda works that way at least...

wow can we get some more misinformation in this thread plz
the first pic is the correct way. The purpose of directional wheels is not to to cut through the air.
The purpose of directional wheels is to get air to the brakes to cool them
however most factory directional wheels from non-high performance cars are not very functional......that is why they say it doesn't matter.

I dont think the prelude ever needed direction wheels for fuctionality purposes. I believe 3rd gen blades, 4th gen se's and 5th gen base wheels are all directional and are used for asthetic purposes. The only directionals that point the other way are the 4th gen 94 and up wheels.
And the Second Picture is how they come from the factory.
The first picture just looks weird IMO
Here are some original honda advertisements

^^^speaking of misinformation...
if you REALLY want to get technical...
look at the wheels. in the first pic, the angle on the forward side of the spoke is sloped down toward the brakes. if it affects airflow to any relative degree, it would be lifting air away from the brakes. think of it like a fan blade.
So if the wheels have any serious use for brake cooling, the second pic, in which the prevailing edge slopes forward away from the brakes would draw air in towards the brakes.
either way, unless you are racing on a road course, there's little chance your brakes are going to overheat anwyway. hence why some cars (mainly hybrids) have solid wheel covers, b/c in daily driving it does'nt matter and it reduces their drag. We don't have them b/c they look like ****.

lol a bunch of noobs that think they know what they are talking about by quoting some pics
notice i said that most directional wheels are not functional.
the directional wheels that are functional face the way of the first pic
^i've worked at a tire store for the last 3 years i think i am a little more qualified than you kid
whether the wheels are functional or not the directional style is intended to be like the first pic.
so if you want them to look like the "factory" go with the second pic
if you don't want to be laughed at by anyone who knows which way a directional wheel is supposed to be facing then go with the first pic

So at the tire store they have training on aerodynamic performance design?
From the factory they are facing as in pic#2. Period.
Besdies, you working at a tire store does not qualify you for anything other than putting on tires. I have had quite a few shops that mounted the tires and wheels a la #1, when i brought it in facing #2. Right or not, it should have been put back the way I had it.

The right way
well considering it's the largest indepentent tire retailer in the nation we have training on just about everything
we even have training for customers....
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoHome.dos
but what i also have that you do not, obiviously since you do not rotate your own tires.....is experience
i don't know how you can claim to be a tuner and have someone else change your oil and rotate your tires

I guess you work for Discount Tire? I used to work for them about a year ago and worked for them for 1.5 years. It's a pretty good place to work at if you're working with cool people. Sometimes you have those cocky bastards who think they know every single thing possible and don't know how to relax.

Not sure i ever said anything about not rotating my own tires or from where you brought up changing my own oil, but when possible, I do all my own work. And i certainly rotate my own tires and change my own oil. No one works on my motor but me. Period. Short of a machine shop that has equipment I do not posses.
Speaking of equipment not in most people's garage, how bout a ******* tire mounting machine jackass. I'm not trying to start a pissing match here, but i'm not fond of using a flathead screwdriver or prybar on my tires like i would a lawnmower.
So you are saying since i do not mount my own tires, I have no experience?
I'm not putting you or your shop down, just making a point. I won't argue with you on tires, trust me.
