air bag disconnect
Howdy. I did a quick search on air bags and found no hits so here goes.
Ok, my sister barely squeaks over 5' 2" and has to use pillows to drive so I'm worried about the explosive device next to her head. I have the form to request 'permission' to install a disconnect switch but no one seems to be able to tell me where a 'certified' business to do that is...locally.
So, I wonder if anyone on HT has experience in this that they care to share with me? I figure it is a switch to kill the juice line to detonate the charge. There wouldn't happen to be a simple fuse for the system is there?
This is for a '93/94 Sol and a '94 LX Accord wagon.
TIA

As much as I'm usually an advocate for doing it yourself, you might want to check if your local dealer might be able to do it for you. If you're set on doing the job yourself, I can give a bit of insight on the Del Sol, possibly applicable to the Accord.
93 only has driver's airbag. 94 has Passenger, too. At least on the driver's, and I believe on the passenger side, there are service disconnects. They have a yellow quick disconnect, and a red terminating end to minimize the risk of accidental explosion. You may be able to rig a switch in that part of the circuit. I highly recommend putting a bit more research into this and finding a professional to do the job right.
If you choose to modify the airbag system, I won't be held responsible if any injury occurs. Good luck, though.
