Default people with apexi n1 exhuasts... i have a question for you.

I am seriously considering the apexi n1 for my 93 civic hatch, but just want to know a few things.

I had a tanabe racing medallion on my crx, and it came with a certificate type of thing saying that the exhuast passes the cali laws and doesnt exceed 95db or w/e silenced. I am wondering if the apexi n1 comes with a piece of paper like this, cuz i dont like dealing with the police/ tickets.

Also does anyone know what the db rating on the apexi n1 is with a silencer... this is going on a civic hatch 93 with d16z6. Thnx.

even if it comes with the sticker or what not, the cops dont care, they will still give you a fix ticket. It happened to one of my friends sporting a dc cat-back. If they think its loud, you'll get the ticket..

I cannot answer about the legality of it in cali but I can tell you that withe the silencer in even with a header and straight through cat, it is a quite exhaust and won't attract a lot of attention.

I put one on a friends 12:1 B18C1 and it's got a really nice sound to it.

That exhaust is LOUD AS HELL. one of the loudest ive heard. Sounds INSANE in B18C1 vtec but cruising around is annoying. Plus the N1 is a piece of crap. My cousin had his on his gsr for just over a year, kept the car SUPER clean in the winter and the welds behind the can rusted out in no time. Poorly manufactured in my opinion.

As for the cops, piece of paper or no, if you've altered the stock exhaust at all, you can get a ticket. At least in NY and im pretty sure in most other places. Anything other than stock, whether it passes emissions, is carb legal or whatever, is illegal. Expect ALOT of attention from cops with that exhaust, I wouldn't buy it.

Plus on a 93 hatch they dont look nice. Stock EK mufflers are the ****! Apexi World sport looks really good, and are fairly quiet compared to other exhausts.

here i uploaded a video right now. showing you my apex n1. set up is jdm itr header, high flow cat and resinator with 2 1/2 piping. the res is aftermarket sits a little bigger than the piping. sounds pretty good without the silencer. with silencer its really quiet can barely hear it. for sure its under 95 decibals w/ silencer. oh yeah and dont ask me why its smokes so much i dont know

you know what i might just make a thread about why it smokes that much

To the del sol guy, my N1 ripoff exhaust did the same thing with the smoke. It's probably the cat you have on it. I put a catco smog legal cat and it sounded much cleaner and smoked alot less.

Well my buddy had a 93 Si (stock z6) with an intake and header, and it was LOUD. you could literally here that thing for miles, im not kidding, miles, when he was on it. I couldnt believe it. and IMO they dont look nice on eg hatches, just my IMO

My cousin had a 94 Integra GSR with stock airbox, jdm itr header and cat, and full N1 catback, and it too was LOUD. Both of them got pulled over a few times. Cops in NY love it.

Not to mention they dont hold up. Thats just from my friend's personal expiriences and seeing it for myself. Plus any car i've ever seen around here with an N1 was loud.

I know a guy who used to have a N1 catback on his z6 del sol. He didn't have the silencer, and his car was ungodly loud and raspy. I could literally hear him coming from inside my apartment 3-4 minutes before he would park outside. Maybe it was because his exhaust was 2.25" (bigger than he needed), or maybe it was because he wasn't using a silencer, but i've never heard a car that sounded worse than his. I've also never heard a N1 with a silencer either though.

i believe the thing with the N1 is the muffler alone is really loud and annoying, especially on honda's, but if you get the catback that comes with a resonator, then it sounds perfectly fine. and with the silencer its super quiet idling/cruising.

pretty much without a resinator that **** is extremely loud. i wish i had video of when i had it without a res. that **** is extremely loud and annoying.

trust me on this i know ive done everything to my apex exhaust
2 1/2 years

full cat back = nice and deep
full cat back w/silencer = hardly hear it at all
cat with straight pipe = loud, raspy and annoying
everything else is self explanitory

done.

aftermarket exhaust is not illegal, no matter what all these people in here say, a cop told me that an exhaust designed to increase the decibles is. modified exhaust is though. So get a muffler for a high perf turbo car. Like an evo. Its enough flow for your little honda.

I totally agree w/ this guy. I've had my n1 for... probably at least three years now. I have a catback w/ an additional resonator, it is nice and deep, and not raspy at-all. I would like to say though, this is by no means a "quiet" exhaust; I actually have a ws2 sitting in my basement awaiting install, b/c I'm sick of hearing the n1.

I would like to strongly disagree w/ this guy though. I live in Omaha NE, we have some of the worst winter in the country, we are constantly re-setting the record for annual snowfall b/c we get such shitty winters. So I can't emphasize enough how much salt they put down... it makes me sick to see. and I am yet to see a single spot of rust on my can.. not a single spot. I've got a buddy that has been through two greddys in the time my apex has lasted. IMO the workmanship on these mufflers are top-notch

edit: ^^^^^^ and the stock 1 1/2 in diameter that comes stock is not even close to having 'enough flow' for a swapped civic.

youll need a good resonator... i have a custom set up and it sounds great, well untill vtec then it sounds badass. but nothing sounds cooler than my buddies teg with open headers. sounds like a V8 <makes V8 noises>.

just go with the cat-back and leave your damn cat on and it will sound nice and deep. put the silencer in on that exact same setup and it is a really quiet exhaust. take out your cat and it will sound like raspy *** i know from experiance. i had mine for 4 years on my si brought it to the beach numerous times and never had any rust problems.
ps.. 92si there is no way you can make a honda sound like a v8 not even close. v8>any i4

In cali you will get alot of attention, specially and in the San Diego area. Those pigs like to mess with Hondas all the time. Challenge them if they pull you over for loud exhaust. Tell them you want to see the Db metter in their car. They dont/cant have any qualification that allows them make any judgements using their own sense of hearing when it comes to this. Its BS, they'll try to throw their weight around. Just dont get angry and as long as u can get away with a lil fix it ticket or less your good, but dont let them boss you around. They did this to me and a friend once, or atleast they tried. They went from exhaust, to ride hide height, which they said was illegal if under 22". Just dont let cops bully you and act like you know your **** about the laws and dont get cocky.

I had a similar exhaust on my car when I first got it. With a d15b7 it wasn't too bad but I did get a fix it ticket once, after the swap the thing was ridiculous(It set off 5 alarms in the parking lot outside the shop and I couldn't hear my stereo) Then I got 3 tickets for it in only a 2 week period (I was slacking in getting it fixed). I'll put it this way if you live in an area where cops like to dick with import cars, don't get it, it'll be like putting a big fat target on your car.

wow thank you everyone fore the help. I live in maine, so ya weather can be a problem, but the cops here just ask for us to show thema certificate saying we personally had the car db tested to make sure its under 95db, or if we dont have it they tell us to get it.

another company i was looking at was some of buddy clubs exhausts
