Where to get an oil cooler?
As title said, I dont mean to be cheap but is there any other choice beside Trust and HKS? which both of them have a thermostat design, and honestly said, its a little too much for a "cooler" I think. although the design seems good.
I was thinking about an Earl's which i saw in a Evo6 last time I was in Hong Kong. Fitting looks good and should be good parts as Earl's is specialized in Fittings. less worries about oil leak.
Or, go for another cheaper way, get a Sandwich Style Oil Thermostat from Earl's, and connect it to a Made in Taiwan cooler.
Any comments? thanks in advance

Its really up to your preference and your budget, but one thing I would definitely suggest is a thermostat, especially if you live someplace where it gets fairly cold at times that you'll be driving the car. Also, don't skimp out on hoses and fittings. you really don't want any leaks or ruptures and since you're taking the oil out of the engine to cool it, this is more of an issue than without the cooler.
I would also strongly suggest an oil pressure guage and secondly an oil temp gauge. THe pressure guages is a must, but the temp is nice to have as well, plus you can see how well your cooler working and just keep a good eye on the status of your motor anyway.

I'd suggest piecing together a system. Mocal stuff is good and they have everything you need.

Why I need an oil cooler? This is what happened after 9 laps in track.. photo pretty much tells you everything
After rebuild my engine compression will be even higher. beside a larger oil pan like an moroso.. external oil cooler is an better option..
For longativity and being lazy. i might just dish out 450 bucks for a trust unit
I spent about $350 on mine with the 19 row Mocal, -10 AN stainless lines and fittings and an oil block adapter thermostat. A much larger cooler than the greddy can be had for quite a bit cheaper than what they sell for. If you want I can post a detailed list of all the parts I used. I got everything from http://www.racerpartswholesale.com Great prices and excellent people to deal with.

Here ya go. This just what I used. You may want to make some adjustments to the list for your purposes or even use some somewhat cheaper parts. You can easily add the remote oil filter into this as well. You just need the oil filter relocation plate and a couple more hose ends. Let me know if I can help anymore man. Have fun!

They're radiused as opposed to a sharp angle so it shouldn't matter much. I've never witnessed a loss in pressure with them.

Heres a question....
I dont know if it has been done before, but i was wondering about fitting an oil cooler in a place other than infront of the radiator.. sounds dumb.. but you dont always need the oil cooler to be there "cooling" (assuming thats what the thermostat sandwich block does).
But lets say it was mounted on the firewall with a little fan over it, (like the radiator fan) connected to an incabin switch, allowing you to turn the fan on when you think the oil is in need of cooling, by means of Oil Temp gague readings
. Pointless?

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but Eric95LS would you be able to tell me where the fittings attach too ?
And can anyone tell me if the Mocal Sandwich plate has holes for sensor fittings ?

MFactory has a pre-built kit with a 19 row cooler, sandwhich plate, oil filter relocator adapter, SS lines and nice AN fittings for $350. I haven't heard any feed back on it but it looks good to me.
