Default more compression

im getting ready to start on my ls/vtec build. im gonna be using us spec itr pistons and a gsr head. i used c-speed racing compression calculator and it said i would be around 11 to 1 with that set up. im gonna run a mugen metal head gasket which ive read is supposed to bump it another .4. im tryin to get around 11.8 - 12 to 1. how much head milling would be involved to get what im looking for? or if you have any other tips to get up there it would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

B16 pistons will give you more compression than an ITR piston.. P30 B16 pistons will give you even more compression.

I would go this route, IMO

yea, but ive already got the itr pistons on my shotpeened ls rods.and i figured i was gonna build the whole head so i would do a little milling. should be about the same as b16 pistons i believe..

what does the rest of the build consist of. I hope you have some nice parts and tuning to make the most of compression that high.

im actually just taking it kinda slow. i used to have an ls/v with ctr pistons with a stock head that pulled pretty hard. im gonna put the bottom end together first and then go through the head. planning on porting, stainless valves, etc etc.

I can't remember if you told me or not, but did you get any resolution to this? Have you gotten the answer/decided what you're going to do?

P.S. If you haven't already, take a look at Frank's picture of his hand on his MySpace.

dont worry about your compression its fine. dont waste your head by milling it just for a few more compression. my old set was same as yours pratically and it made decent power.191 hp & 139 tq. ran high 12s all day in a fully interior eg on slicks

I think that will be music to his ears! His old setup was damn nice, but...I'm not certain it's my place to say what happened to it.

It's sad.

Nice. Hey, dick! What happened to letting me know when you were in town and not driving your car here? I passed you on Potranco on the way to the Marbach HEB Chinese Kitchen. Would have called, but my phone was dead.

Anyway, let me know when you start getting that thing together.
