Questions about a 2000 ITR
I work for a large car dealership (I'm not a car salesman.. LOL), we took a 2000 Integra Type R in trade. We plan on wholeselling but I was offered a chance to buy it at cost. Here are the details I know so far...
2000 ITR, Yellow 49K miles
Clean CARFAX/Autocheck, VIN checks out
Some no name aftermarket front seats and rails, aside from a small gauge cut out on the left side of the dash, the interior looks good
Front bumper needs to be re-hung
Transmission bolts are loose (WTF?) and it lurches.. stiff to, must be some Heavy duty stuff
Air box is not installed, its in the trunk (no CAI either), don't see a MAF sensor
Fuel Rail installed I think it said SRT or something like that
Apparently has RC 550 injectors
A/C Belt is off
Type R wheels painted black (Why?)
I dont think it has the stock exhaust.. looks like a regular one.. from an LS or something
I'm guessing the car had been turbo'ed, the oil looks good...
I can buy the car for $9500, what kind of project am I in for? What is the worst case scenario on this cost wise? I'd like the put the car back to stock as much as possible and most likely resale it
Any suggestions I would appreciate it!!!!!!!!!

Are you serious? What in the explecitive was wrong with his post?
I think its best if you GTFO!
To OP: Its all up to you. If your serious about the R, have spare money incase there are probelms down the road, and are ready for a project caR, then Id say go for it. Just remember that a Type R is on every thieves wish list.
People have restored R's in much worse condition then the one your looking at. Good luck in your decision.

Ill tell you why this thread sux...
#1: If he is asking if anyone knows of this car, why are there no identifying #s? Like the production # or even where he's located?
#2 There are no pix... This car could be beat to hell, so, anyone making a suggestion is making a suggestion while blind .
#3: ITRs do no have MAF sensors... So, how much does this guy know about hondas?
#4: YOu told him to come down and make a thread about some random car which he listed basically NOTHING about...and he wants our opinions...
Im just cranky, cause I spun a rod bearing.

One thing you should consider is what your budget is. Both now and down the road. You can probably find a stock 2000 ITR with similar mileage for about $8000 +/- more money. One with a better known history - and an obviously kinder and gentler one as well.
The comments about your lack of pix is a good one. Post some up so we can see what it looks like. Is the body clean and dent/ding free?
Personally, I would want something with a more documented history, and I (speaking for myself) would pass. I would like to know who owned it and what they did with it. I am the 3rd owner of my '00 ITR (FBP), and I've spoken with both previous owners. I know their ages, their professions, and know exactly how my car was treated when they owned it. But this isn't about me, it's about you.
Have you run a carfax on the VIN? See how many owners it's had; see if the title is salvaged or clean. For the condition you've stated, the mileage sounds very suspicious to me.

If your just buying the car to try and turn a profit I would leave it alone and let someone purchase the car who really desires to own an ITR.... My 0.02

Wow, I incited a firestorm of responses here. Thanks for all the help. I will include pictures and all the details later today, I just found out about the car yesterday and was ill prepared to to get all the info. (I didn't have camera on me). I have always heard this was a great place for info and many good/friendly people frequent this site. Unfortunately, there are elitist and jerks on every site, you have to take the good with the bad. I just want to add that I'm not a mechanic and some of the work that will need to be done will more than likely require the services of one. I understand that there is a lot to learn and I'll try to be as humble as possible when asking questions. Thanks again for you time.

Uh wouldn't that be the reason behind posting this? He obviously doesn't know that much about Hondas, that is why he went to a Honda forum for help, but you are too much of a ***** to offer any help, so you just say he should leave. Gotta love douches!!

It seems to me that someone traded in this car and switched over a lot of non-itr parts thinking the dealer wouldn't know or care if they were missing/replaced. Just with what you mentioned I would make sure that car is fully inspected to make sure nothing else was switched out. I wouldn't be suprised if the tranny bolts were loose because they swapped out the itr LSD tranny for an non-itr tranny.
If the body is in good shape, I'd say go for it. But just be sure you have the time and resources to do it right or this could turn into a huge headache. If you do get pictures try and snap some of the engine bay, suspension and interior.

Good point. Do your homework. Maybe when you post up your location, someone on the ITR forum can help you out with an inspection. A lot of question marks with this one - not that they can't be answered, but they should be answered before you sign on the dotted line. And invest in a carfax report - money well spent. Good luck.

The car is from Orangeburg, SC then was tittled in Hopkins, SC.. 2 Owner.. A co-worker had the car transfered to Ft Lauderdale (where I live) from our South Carolina store and then decided he did not want it.
Car number is #167
I hope this helps, if additional photos would help, I'll get to it
Thanks again everyone!!!!!

Looks like a decent deal for 9500.
I know its not the best idea but you could part it and make money back if its in too bad shape.
But first Id save it. Looks like it would take much,
Whats the number on the armrest?

The car actually isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I would just double check the vins on all the parts like the fenders, panels, motor, tranny, etcetera. If the body is straight, go for it. Get rid of those obd0 injector clips, injectors, put it back to stock.
