hey, i have access to a sandblaster for a week or so so i decided to pretty up my engine bay a bit... sandblaster being for sanding the valve cover...
im gonna repaint my valve cover, paint my intercooler pipes, clean my bay, and something on my list was new rad hoses, samco ones are way to expensive to i looked at the obx replicas, anyone tried these out? from the pics on ebay they look pretty good, 4 ply. the only problem i can guess is lengh and fitment. any input?

it's obx man, you get what you pay for. And to tell you the truth, i personally wouldnt trust obx rad hose lines in my car. These hoses are kind of important if you want to keep your engine from melting, so cheaping out on this stuff proably isnt a great idea.

are u saying they can crack? cause i mean all they really do is transfer fluid. unless they have a slit in them when they arrive i doubt how much damagee it can do?

No, what i am saying is that obx doesn't have a good reputation, since most of their products are cheaper imitations of other companies' designs, not to mention generally poorer build quality. Keep in mind this information is just regirgitation of what i've read about peoples' experiences with OBX's products.

Who knows. they could crack, they could blow. And as far as the damage done as a result, well, imagine no coolant going through your motor...
All im saying here is be careful. Make no mistake when deciding what you think is best for your motor. If you ask me, i'd shell out the extra cash for parts from a company that has a proven track record and reliability.

OBX has had a horrible rep. but personally i think they have stepped it up a notch from where they were back in the day. i dont have the link but they built a car with all obx parts and it worked out well from what i read. IM NOT SAYING OBX IS IN THE SAME RING AS MAJOR PARTS DEALERS. i too have been wanting to get new rad hoses and looked at samco they are high for 2 hoses. ive though about going with obx b/c im on a budget and need new hoses. 45 bux for obx 100 for samco and 25ish for OE. its all a personal opinion but i dont see them being any worse than a OE hose and i dont see them busting open under normal condistion.
I had some OBX rad hoses for about a year and I only had 2 problems: There was a large amount of extra hose on the end I had to trim off, and I used cheapo Home Depot hose clamps and they cut through the hose very easily (the screw clamps with all the little notches). They're good hose, you just have to be carefull....
