It depends on what road you want to go down. If you want boost then the h23 is the best for it. The h22 can be boosted but it would require more attention to the motor. If you want all motor then i would go with the JDM h22. They are about the same except for VTEC. This is what i did, although going all motor is very expensive if you want to see big numbers. With the h23 you can buy a good turbo setup for around 4k. With a little work to the motor you can call it a day.

The the h22 is what you want to go with. If you can find a type s that would be hot! I think they are 220hp. That wont be to the wheels but its still a strong motor.

What's your hp goal?

If I were to do an engine build up, I would read Pirate McFred's thread about the G23 Hybrid. HP AND tq....all for less than an H22.

Lol not only is it hard to find, it is $$$ more than vanilla h22a, but then you do get alot of parts you can sell as a premium eg. cams, pistons ect. Check out hmotors, think they still have a type s for sale for about 4200 or so. Since the route to N.A perfection is long and very $$$, I would go with a good vanilla h22a complete swap for about 2,200-2,400 and use the extra 2k for essentials like RMF,SMSP,Hytech,DTR header, EuroR intake manifold or ITB's, Crower valvetrain and things like these.

Is that your 5th gen in the picture? If so try to get a H23A VTEC (Bluetop), it's OBD2 and bolts directly into your car. It's more expensive than a H22A, and less expensive than a Type-S. But more than all, rarer than both.
