Lookin for an OBD1 H22A swap for my 91 LX coupe
...title speaks for itself. I need the complete engine or close to it... i plan on puttin the B16 tranny on it so i dont really need the H tranny.... but also does anyone kno info about puttin a B16 tranny on an H22A1...i hear its possible... i would go to an engine web site or what ever but they arent always reliable...so i figured why not start @ Honda Tech.
Yes, a B-series tranny can be bolted up to an H-series motor using the H2B kit. However, the kit was designed to solve problems that people had when swapping an H22+tranny into a Civic, and thus, would not work well in your Accord. You should really stick with the H22 tranny.
well the whole reason i would go with the B tranny is for the shorter gearing...my boy i know talks about it all the time how much better it is and what not.. idk anyone kno if its better or not? i personally like the f and h series long gearing.
The kit wasn't made for an Accord... If you use it in your Accord (and it wouldn't be a bolt-on affair), you would have problems with your axles not being the correct length, nor would they be at a good angle. In the end, you would need custom axles, custom mounts, etc. Again, this kit was made for Civics and Integras.
The H22 with a Prelude tranny is already at fairly high rpms while cruising on the highway. I don't think I'd want to deal with even higher rpms with a daily driver. If you really want some shorter gearing, switch out your final drive. Personally, I would prefer the stock H22 tranny's gearing.
