Powder Coating, $230, too good...
...to be true?
I don't know much about all of this, but the guy said he would strip, coat, and color match the centercaps, all 4 wheels, for $230. He said if I bring it in at the first of the month, he can have them back on the car next day.
Does this sound right? Should it be less or more? I've tried finding another place but it seems powder coating isnt a common thing around here. I'm going to ask them for some color samples to see what their gunmetal looks like.
advice?

what size wheel?
I paid $240 to get my s2000 wheels powdercoated (16"). That included the stripping, cleaning, etc... That was the guy's normal price but I believe he raised them recently when business increased

sounds a touch low... does that include the media blasting to remove factory coatings??? I paid $350 for a set of Mustang rims...but removal of the clear coat and factory coating cost $150 (or so)
I told the guy, they were brand new, needed the current coating of whatever is on it removed, the rims were to be coated gunmetal, and the center caps were to be color matched (paint, cause they are plastic) and he said $200 for wheels, $30 for caps. I should have asked for his name, was in a hurry to get to work and forgot about it.
thats insane. there is like NO ONE around me that does powdercoating. at least for that cheap. i was gettin quotes like 200 per wheel which is BS. hey i know alotta you HT guys are in MD, where do you go for something like this?!

if there is any manufacturing companys in your area...im sure there are powdercoating facilitys also...not very often does a company do there own in house powdercoating...and powdercoating is very common...if you look around you find better prices...problem is they may be charging some random guy with some wheels alot, because they flat dont want to do it.. that kind of thing...
