Here is the p/s removal thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=184202. This should give you lots of info.

Why are you removing the ABS? Is it broken or something. The system is quite good on the ITR. I'm sure others will recommend that you leave it in.

The a/c is fairly straight forward as well. There is a thread on it. Just look around for it.

You can also buy a breather kit from user "Padawan" to help the p/s rack breathe better so your not fighting air bubbles.

WOW! I'm not about to help you disable one of the best designed ABS safety systems ever invented because it's UGLY

You really need to consider buying a different car & letting someone who appreciates the R enjoy it....OPIE - WHERE ARE YOU???

If you want to ditch your abs, will you sell it? lines, harness, controller, everything? I want to install in my car... The ITR abs is supposed to be awesome... PM Me a price...

For the steering rack, 95 and down civic CX and some DX's had manual steering racks. I have one in my 94 DX Coupe... I like the manual steering on the highway, but it Sucks when parking and at slow speeds...

Asking the questions that you're asking I really dont think you should be allowed to touch the braking system on any car, let alone a very well designed peice of electronic braking assistance... Do a search, plenty of others have been dumb enough to gut systems that make the ITR perform as well as it does. Why not ditch the wing all the extra bracing, they're ugly too and you can save .notgoingtomatteranyway ammount of lbs.

I can't stress enough about NOT removing the ABS. It works great on the ITR. The ONLY reason someone should remove it is if it's broken and would take many $$$ to fix.

Also to mention the value of the car takes a nose dive. If you decide to sell it for what ever reason you just knocked out a huge percent of potential buyers furthermore raise the skeptisism of the car. What I mean by skeptisism, I mean if the car is a theft recovery or have been in an accident. I don't know but thats just me I guess.

In my honest opinion just leave it alone. The car will be worth more later on in the future, unless your intention is to make a full on race car and compete seriously in a race event. I don't know but thats just me. To each his own

i understand why that guy wants the abs pump out.. haha.. i sold a jdm converted 95 gsr just because i hated lookin at that pump under my hood... as for the 98 and up abs pump.. they look perfect.. not as big and bulky as the older one.. plus the jdm hid lights wont fit smoothly (or at all) with the big abs pump

is there a way to upgrade form 94-97 to 98-01 abs pumps?

If so, i think that would be a smarter choice...

edit: if you already have the 98 and up abs pump... ya.. i think that would be dumb messin with that

Who gives a **** what it looks like, it's a ******* ABS pump? Even beyond doing it for appearance sake, ITR ABS is phenominal. I can't imagine anyone on this board (or very few people at least) could brake as effectively with a non-ABS unit.

Yes - they shaved something like 12lbs from the old GSR ABS system for the US market. One can only guess for the other countries what changes happened or didn't happen - which is depicted in the picture.

I'm just curious, since you are trying to make a point, the picture is a silver car...there's no proof the picture is a type R other than it is possible since it's a right-hand drive so we're dealing with another country (see note above).

Good point Jeff, it could not be an ITR, it is missing the strut tower bar, but it is also a RHD car.

the car in the picture is my 97 JDM DB8 ITR.

so 97 USDM GS-R's came with the old style ABS modulator, but 97 USDM ITR's came with the newer style (that was on all 98-01 Integras)?

If you do decide to remove the ABS those hardlines are one of the hardest jobs to replace if you do need to replace them - which I think you possible will. You will have to drop the tank, and front crossmember. PITA. I have just replaced my corroded lines and it will take you a good 12 hours.

Two words: Watch Out. It's not a racecar, it's a street car. If you don't know how to slow a car down in the rain without abs and there's a situation where you need to stop fast, make sure you know how to modulate the brakes!
