Default Timming belt.

About how much "should" it cost to have a shop replace it? So far I called one place and they quoted me 300, that seemed a bit high. But if it does cost about that much, how hard would it be to do it myelf? As long as i don't need a engine hoist I should be okay. Oh I guess car detials would help. It's an 88 si with stock engine.

just do it yourself its eazy on sohc's. you won't need an engine hoist just take out your drivers side mount and use a jack under your oil pan to get the timing belt out

I would say it costs around 300$ if genuine Honda parts are used. But that should include the water pump and tensioner too.

yeah you dont need an engine hoist to do this ..just a jack with a block of wood,,a socket set,and some kind a huge bar for leverage,,,,,oh yeah and a workshop manual for your car,,helms manuals are good..

Great so that means it will take me about two days. Wish i was kidding to. It seems it has taken more time to do easy things to that car. Took me allmost 3 days to replace 1 wheel bearing. But i love it. Get me out of the house and away from "Her!"

Word... my first one took me 3-4 hours from start to finish, and I was doing a bunch of things at once. Plus the crank pully bolt took me like an hour of that. lol

If you can crack the crank pully bolt quickly, then it really shouldn't take much longer than an hour or two.
