so i have a 98 ek dx auto and the tranny definitely seems funny. it's at 123k miles, got a major service done at 108k replacing the auto tranny fluid.

when the auto tranny shifts from 1-2 or 2-3 there is a rev up in between shifts that doesnt seem normal. so lets say it shifts at 3k, then in between it will rev up to like 4k then drop down to 2k continuing onto the next gear.

can someone explain why?

 

clutches are slipping. that's my only guess. the friction material may have burned off if it has been going on for awhile.

try lucas tranny fix, if that doesn't work your only other choice is to replace the clutches.
