Default electrical problem?

I just bought a 91 civic 4dr and my interior dash lights don't work and lighter does not work. I check all fuses and they are fine(ones under the dash and under the hood). THe light has both connections on the back of it. I have no idea what else to check.

Did you check to see if the bulbs are burned out? Have seen that a few times.

Get out a multimeter and check to see if the plug is getting power. If its not go back and find the problem. A helms/haynes manual helps--buy one

Check your dimmer switch, it could be bad. Check to see if you have power to the lighter, the lighter element may be bad.

Dimmer works, cause all the dash and heater lights dim when I adjust the switch. Just the cluster lights behind illuminate the gas, radiator temp, and gas guage works. The light that shows what gear its in (auto) and seatbelt lights work.

Do you mean lights behind gauges DON'T work? check for power at the plugs on the back of the cluster. Red wire is power to them when lights are on, Red/Black is the ground, you may have a broken wire somewhere. I doubt all the bulbs are blown, but they could be.

Look at this ****, now they quit working again. Is there a relay that just controls the lights behind the guages. Like state the little green square around the gears on the dash and seatbelt light still work.
