i got a D15B7 (obd1 dx motor) in my hatch right now, fried piston rings, pistons, blown headgasket.
I can chirp my tires in 2nd and it revs to 7200. also no radiator. still runnings, its actually pretty sparky to drive, throttle is messed due to teh cable being wrong one.
But hey its fun, and i have no plans on bulding it. its a cheap engine I got for kicks, it runs and drives and with the obd0 fuel curve its ALMOST like Vtec after 4500. hehe, dumps fuel though.
Dunno what tiem slips are yet, i dont think it would make it to my nearest terack sorry.
EDIT oh yea I got some parada spec 2 on LS wheel right now, got some rota circuit 8's going on as soon as newer tires get here.

take out the butterfly plate and stick a cone filter right on the round housing, say hello to the bassiest intake you've ever heard and fast throttle response
i took out that butterfly plate it it really didnt do a thing. i really dont see what the hype is all about. my d15b2 isnt really that fast at all im doing a mpfi swap soon so we'll see if that changes anything

you gotta stick the filter right onto the housing. Having a cai will only make the d15b2 struggle to grab that air. I noticed with a CAI I lost so much low end power but gained alot of top end, especially near 6k, whereas with the filter right on the housing there's alot more power on the low end.. plus the sound.. man the intake is loud as hell with the filter right on the housing, with the CAI it like quietened down by alot, I could barely hear the intake.

yepp, give it a try you'll be surprised how much louder it is and you will feel the difference in the low end

just make sure when you take out the butterfly plate to keep the little mesh thingy on (you can take out the V-plate though), the mesh makes sure the air is directed properly (alot of muscle car people have home made noodle drainers in their hood scoops, same concept) to the tb

o i already have mine like that pic i thought u mean take off the whole black thing and put the filter pointing up directly on the throttle body ya wen u put it like that u can realy realy feel a differenct u should try taking the little mettle peice off in side the little black box its only one screw. after i took that off i heard the intake whistlin and everyting lol

Yeah, wait till you take off the butterfly plate..
BTW what rpms do you shift at? Power shift? I don't think I've ever gotten a chirp on third.. I've gotten a little tiny chirp on second though, lol..

all this stuff about taking the butterfly plate off and the other metal ristrictor plate thingy doenst make your car any faster.. its all in your head.. do a mpfi swap. dpfi is really ugly and isnt worth taking that stuff off. the stuff is there for a reason too.
is this a technical post?
"yo, uhmmmZ, my stock D15 skitches hella 3rd gear foo... i betz me is daa onleE one"
this thread should have been locked after the first reply.... he hit the nail on the head, its probably your shitty tires.

It does make a difference.
I know what each thing was there for. The V-plate is to create a venturi (or a little tornado) for the air inside the round housing, the mesh is to guide the air evenly into the TB, and the butterfly plate is there to increase the idle when your motor is cold. Did I mention that the butterfly plate never opens "fully" (or bends straight enough) even at WOT, hense the gains from removing it, especially top end.
I'm going to do an MPFI swap when I hit up the junkyard later, but for now I'll do what I can with what I have, and sadly.. that's DPFI.. lol

just seems like a waste of time .. and you would prob get better fuel economy with all that stuff back in .. and since you got dpfi you would probably want the better fuel milage then the power since its so small and you couldnt win any race.
mines a 89 si hatch. ok well i have a mpfi on my d15b1 on and also just the filter on my manifold. to tell you the truth it made my car run better. its loud to and it just whissles from 2500-3600. its a big diffrence from just from having a dpfi. o and its completely stock just got full exhuast. o also mine trips on second and twice on 3rd. need to swap to 5spd tranny.
bet you are just chirpin your clutch not your tires that or you got really crappy tires....cause my cammed z6 can't chirp third but I am running falken azenis
