Yes, you need to convert. Is that your question?

just send your harness to rywire they will make it plug in play also a p28 ecu make sure theres a vtec solenoid all that stuff and get the si tranny with the d16z6 the one you have will bolt up but totally sucks. other than do some research on anything else you might need there a search button. oh yeah stupid of my the d16z6 si tranny is a hydro tranny i think you can use a si cable tranny nice short gears too.go for that instead cuz your car uses a cable tranny so stay cable.

Yeah, and if you have an STD hatch, then you need to convert from DPFI to MPFI as well as OBD0 to OBD1.

P.S. If you are doing this swap because you think you will be fast with it, then think again. The d16z6 isn't that powerful of a motor. Better than stock, but you won't keep up with any boosted DSMs.

You're not gonna hang with your friends dsm's after the swap anyways. I'm pretty even with my boy's 98 gst w/ downpipe and intake, and I'm running a b16 w/ intake, exhaust. His car still whoops my *** on top end too, but I'm not complaining, just making an observation...

I dont see why you'd expect to beat his turbo with your B16 and intake.....

But anyway, I've not lost many of my races....but I definitely choose my battles wisely

You need to get a LS 5th Gear for a longer 5th, so you can flex 1-4 and cruise in 5th to a decent top speed without bein on redline...

I'm not saying that you shouldn't swap that motor in. Hell, I have a d16z6 in my 90 STD hatch. I'm just saying that you won't be able to keep up with boosted DSMs in a straight line.

I autocross my hatch and I think the d16z6 is a great engine for it. Plenty of power for tight courses, and with a light balanced little hatch it makes for a good cone chaser.

If you are looking to drag race then go for something with more power. But if you want a fun daily driver or cheap autocross warrior, then do with the d16z6.
